    Stand down, everybody.

The no-ball siren rings. It wouldn't have counted.

  2. dropped catch

Sarfaraz dropped on 2published at 65.3 overs

    Ind 290-3

    It's all happening!

Sarfaraz Khan chips one back, Ben Stokes tumbles in his follow-through but can't hang on. A tough chance, with all his bodyweight going forward and the ball just inches off the ground.

He lies on the floor for a moment and whacks the turf in frustration. Hang in there, Ben.

Devdutt Padikkal is averaging a decent 92.6 in the Ranji Trophy this season, India's first-class competition. When Gill and Rohit were cruising, he must have been itching to get out there.

It just shows how quickly things can change in Test cricket. He nervously edges James Anderson past slip for four.

Wickets of both centurions have fallen while I'm out walking the dog... this sounds familiar from the last Test! #walkforwickets

Two new batters in the middle, as Sarfaraz Khan joins Devdutt Padikkal, and that gives England a real opportunity.

Couple more, make it interesting. Come on.

    England needed that after lunch.

It is nice to see Ben Stokes running in and taking a wicket.

England just have a glimmer. They've just got to stick in now and try to keep the deficit down to as few as possible.

They were two great centuries for India and a soul-destroying partnership.

    Something about London buses?!

Test wicket 699, and it's another stunner!

Some reverse swing causes the first bit of uncertainty from Shubman Gill that we've seen all day. It's gone between bat and pad to clip the top of off stump once more and Anderson gives Gill a stare as he departs.

Another fabulous innings comes to an end, and it was always going to take something special to do it.

Was just about to turn the lights out in Los Angeles, and Ben Stokes does that!! Incredible stuff!

If only that Stokes delivery was with the series finely poised at 2-2.

Obviously we're going to talk about Stokes but credit to Rohit Sharma where it's due.

    It was a stunning knock.

Truly remarkable. You can't write it. Nobody there can believe it. What an absolute beauty.

To run up having not bowled in cricket really for the past 12 months, had knee surgery, and then bowl an absolute ripper.

If anyone can do it it was going to be Ben Stokes.

Thing is, you wouldn't now put it past Stokes to bowl all through the session.

    And breathe!

England's other bowlers must be thinking that's some kind of cruel joke.

They toil and toil all morning, watching the ball fly to the boundary - and then Stokes, having not bowled for almost a year and having undergone knee surgery, trundles in and takes out the off stump.

At least Mark Wood could see the funny side.

A brilliant moment. Brendon McCullum hand over his mouth, laughing out loud just sums it up.

Well done to Ben Stokes in terms of the effort he's put in to get back.

  16. Ind 275-2published at 61.2 overs

Well, that's certainly given England something to smile about. In fact, Brendon McCullum is pictured laughing on the balcony.

If you want something done right, do it yourself, eh?

    You couldn't write it!

England's captain gets rid of his opposite number with his first ball! It's an absolute beauty that nips past Rohit Sharma's defence and clips the top of off stump.

Mark Wood has his hands on his head and his jaw almost on the floor. You speak for us all, Woody!

    Normal service is resumed.

Anderson starts with one down the leg-side, followed by a front foot no-ball and Shubman Gill finishes it off with back-to-back fours through mid-wicket.

Stephan mentioned the IPL prep and that suggest they're going into white-ball mode now.

    Ominous.
