Around 20 minutes until the lunch break. Will Gill or Rohit get their tons before then?

It goes without saying really, but England could do with a wicket or two (preferably four or five) before the interval.

With the England spinners bowling in tandem Shubman Gill has opted for the cap. There is something very aesthetically pleasing about a batter donning that.

Gill uses his feet magnificently to create the angle to whip over mid-wicket for another six. He's up to 87, and with Rohit Sharma on 90 it is a race to the century.

A glance at the World Test Championship table sees England second from bottom. They’ve been docked 19 points in nine games for slow over rates, comfortably more than all the rest added together.

They have lost five, won three, drawn onea. When will reality sink in?

    Another maiden for Tom Hartley.

India have occasionally attacked, and taken down, the England spinners, but on the whole they aren't leaking loads of runs quickly.

A change of angle from Shoaib Bashir as he goes round the wicket, into the pads of Shubman Gill.

The offie gets one to keep a little low and Gill ends up hacking it off middle stump to fine leg for a single.

Ben Stokes, who was at leg gully, slouches in disappointment.

Ludicrous that Root, who has consistently troubled the Indian batters this series, hasn’t had a bowl yet.

It was just a change of ends for Tom Hartley, who replaces Mark Wood, as England go to double spin for the first time today.

Rohit Sharma moves to 89 with a perfectly placed sweep behind square for four more.

We've got a bit of Whitney Houston between overs. Classic.

Ollie Robinson is again not at the ground today, still laid low by illness. Remember, England only have 13 fit players, so Paul Collingwood and Marcus Trescothick are listed as subs. Last night Trescothick said Collingwood is the keener of the two to get out there to field. Colly has already been on and off with the drinks.

Just a single from the rest of the over. Good comeback by the youngster.

Will India look to attack him, though? He has gone at 5.16 runs per over in this innings.

Shoaib Bashir returns to replace Tom Hartley.

He's greeted by an advancing Shubman Gill planting him over his head for six.

India lead. How big of an advantage will they build?

Just looked at the score in the middle of my night shift. Needless to say I’m quite content going back to work now rather than having to follow this. Still quietly hoping by the time I hand over, Jimmy will have a Five-for in the Foothills…

    Scores level

The short-ball tactic is leaving spaces for India to score runs.

Mark Wood is into his sixth over in the spell and he's struggling to get it above head height, and really test the batters, now.

It leads to Shubman Gill punching four down the ground, before three through the covers. A misfield at Tom Hartley at deep fine leg then gives Rohit Sharma four too.

Tom Hartley twirls through an unthreatening maiden.

The camera cuts to a couple of England fans in the stands who are kitted out with AFC Bournemouth scarves.

    It's like September in England.

There are five fielders on the leg side.

A deep fine leg and square leg, and then a square-ish deep mid-wicket about 20 yards off the rope. The other two are within where the 30-yard circle would be in a white-ball game.

Mark Wood can't get it high enough though and Rohit Sharma is able to back away and smack it back through the vacant mid-off to bring up the century partnership with a boundary.

Mark Wood continues after drinks and England are going short-ball theory.

It's been a brilliant first hour by India.

They are showing England how to bat positively while also being selective. It’s all on show for England to learn from… if they want to.

A maiden from Tom Hartley takes us to drinks.

India have dominated the opening hour, adding 67 runs. England are still searching for the breakthrough.

One positive, England have got through 15 overs so if they can keep that up and give us stumps at 11:00 GMT that would be superb.

Mark Wood is finding plenty of pace and carry from this pitch.

It tempts Shubman Gill into the upper-cut, which he misses, and there's hands on head from Wood.

It was close to the outside edge.
