Another wicket for Kent! Two in two overs, either side of the hosts taking the new ball.

Nathan Gilchrist has his first of the innings as Lewis Goldsworthy mistimes a drive and picks out Joey Evison at cover.

Somerset still trail by 32 as captain Lewis Gregory heads to the middle.

  2. Postpublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 7 April 2024

    Sussex 215-3 v Northants 371

Rob Keogh is into his 17th over.

He's bowling slow, flighted deliveries to try to tempt James Coles into overhitting.

He connects with a wider sixth ball, sweeping in front of square for a single.

  3. Postpublished at 17:08 British Summer Time 7 April 2024

    Notts 293 v Essex 253 & 327-8

Adam Rossington squeezes one beyond the dive of Brett Hutton at mid-on.

It creeps over the rope for four. These are more valuable runs for Essex. He then grabs a single off the last ball of Dillon Pennington's over.

We still have 23 overs left today as well.

  4. dropped catch

Haines dropped on 107published at 17:07 British Summer Time 7 April 2024

    Sussex 212-3 v Northants 371

This is a change of ends for Finan.

The left arm bowler delivered three overs up the hill for 26 earlier in this innings.

His third ball is a tad short. Haines aims a flashing drive and a tough chance is spilled by keeper McManus diving to his right.

  8. wicket

WICKET Banton c Finch b Garrett 28published at 17:03 British Summer Time 7 April 2024

    Kent 284 v Somerset 252-4

Six and out for Tom Banton, who was starting to charge.

Highly-rated wicketkeeper-batter James Rew is next in.

  9. Postpublished at 17:02 British Summer Time 7 April 2024

    Sussex 210-3 v Northants 371

If Northants are going to pick up more wickets in this session, spin is the most likely weapon to succeed on this pitch.

But the fourth ball of Rob Keogh's 16th over is leg side and tapped round the corner for an easy two.

The next couple of balls are tossed right up to Tom Haines, who plays defensively.

Northants turn to Michael Finan to bowl the next over.

  10. 'Haines' hard work has paid off'published at 17:00 British Summer Time 7 April 2024

    Sussex 197-3 v Northants 371

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

There was applause from the Northamptonshire players for Tom Haines which is always nice to see.

He didn't make a hundred last year but he's worked hard on his game this winter and all that hard work has paid off.

  11. Postpublished at 16:59 British Summer Time 7 April 2024

    Kent 284 v Somerset 244-3

One more over before the new ball is available.

    Sussex 208-3 v Northants 371

Ben Sanderson is round the wicket to Tom Haines - who blocks.

The last ball offers a bit of width outside off and Haines drives square with poise and power for four.

    Great shot.

  13. 100 runs

for Ryan Higginspublished at 16:59 British Summer Time 7 April 2024

    Middlesex 408-4 v Glamorgan 620-3 dec

A lovely clip to the midwicket fence off Craig Miles gives Ryan Higgins four runs and move him from 98 to 102.

Lovely batting from the Middlesex number five - his and the team's first century of the summer.

  14. Sussex pass 200 at Hovepublished at 16:55 British Summer Time 7 April 2024

    Sussex 203-3 v Northants 371

Rob Keogh is back on and James Coles carefully paddles the off spinner round the corner to take the hosts to 200 in the 54th over.

The next ball is clipped away to backward square for one.

This game is slipping away from Northants and a draw is the most likely result here.

  15. 100 runs

for Tom Hainespublished at 16:50 British Summer Time 7 April 2024

    Sussex 197-3 v Northants 371

Great shot from James Coles, seizing on width and cutting Chris Tremain through the off side for four. He moves on to 57.

Tom Haines has his century in the next over, thrashing Ben Sanderson through cover for the elusive single.

The 10th century of his career comes in 151 balls with 15 fours.

Two balls later, Coles blasts Sanderson off the back foot through wide mid off to take the fourth-wicket partnership to 100 off 158 balls.

  16. wicket

Matt Critchley walks off the fieldImage source, Rex Features

Matt Critchley's vigil is brought to an end.

Eight minutes shy of four hours and after 174 balls, he is undone, trying to work the ball square-ish off Brett Hutton.

But he has helped Essex reach a lead of 267.

  17. No play at Headingley on day threepublished at 16:49 British Summer Time 7 April 2024

for Jack Daviespublished at 16:47 British Summer Time 7 April 2024

    Middlesex 394-4 v Glamorgan 620-3 dec

    Well batted Jack Davies.

A single brings him the 24-year-old a second first-class 50 of his career. This has come off 121 balls and he has offered valuable support to Ryan Higgins.

  19. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Edgbastonpublished at 16:47 British Summer Time 7 April 2024

    Warwks 360 v Worcs 360 & 237-2

It appears our luck in the West Midlands has run out.

Pity as the Pears had been placed in a great position by Kashif Ali's 133 and Jake Libby's unbeaten 75.

Just the one hover cover on the square for now so hopefully just a short delay.

  20. 'Kent will be looking forward to new ball'published at 16:44 British Summer Time 7 April 2024

    Kent 284 v Somerset 223-3

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

I fancy Kent will be very much looking forward to getting a new Kookaburra ball in their bowlers' hands.

About another five overs to go until they can take it...
