Wow, nothing is sticking for England.

It's kicked through by Jess Breach and Ellie Kildunne looks like she will touch down with ease, but Aoife Dalton just does enough to put the full-back off and she drops the ball when it looked certain she would score.

Former England captain on BBC Two

What is really interesting is that England are starting to work out what is happening. It's just Ireland's defence is winning at the moment.

Now that England have worked out what Ireland's defence is, England need to go and tackle it.

    Ireland 5-7 England

England win the penalty at the scrum and Niamh O'Dowd is sent to the sin-bin after repeated infringements.

She doesn't look happy but she had been warned.

    It's sent into the 22.

There's another handling error by prop Hannah Botterman and Ireland will have the scrum on halfway.

Will their pack fare any better than in the first half?

  6. Postpublished at 17:51 British Summer Time 12 April

    Ireland 5-7 England

    This is breathless stuff!

Maud Muir powers through the Irish defence and it takes two players to bring her down in the 22.

It's pinched at the ruck by Eve Higgins, who has been everywhere so far and Stacey Flood thumps it clear.

England have it again, but they are back on halfway.

    Ireland 5-7 England

Ireland win the line-out but it's a bit scrappy as the ball rolls on the ground.

It's backwards and O'Brien can clear with a big kick.

It's straight into the arms of Abby Dow, and England look to come again.

It's not going to be awarded.

    It's a mega tackle by Costigan, a proper try-saver.

What a start that would have been to the second half by England though. That's a proper warning shot.

    My word, this is close.

It's Costigan racing back and she drags Breach down, but did her foot touch the line or dance over it?

England are immediately in at the start of the second half and Jess Breach races over in the corner.

She definitely got it down, but was she in touch?

The players are back out on the pitch and it won't be long before we're back under way.

If the second half is as close as the first then we're in for a treat.

England could have been further ahead they have had a couple of chances. This is really frustrating as a coach. England have to be patient, it's there and the edge is on.

    Their scrum has been outstanding.

Have both teams got enough to keep the tempo up?

I think the game against England last year was a turning point for Ireland. That was a really frustrating game for them and they have found the way they need to play against England. Ireland have really rattled England.

I think the Irish forward shave been aggressive.
