When Verstappen was in the pits they [Red Bull] didn't find anything, they didn't report anything on that car.

I don't know why Verstappen is not trying to lead this race but that's the report from down here.

    Marc Priestley
Former F1 mechanic on BBC Radio 5 Live

The McLaren has typically worked very well on the hard tyre and we've often seen it on race day is them over some of their rivals that have not even been able to make that tyre work.

If that's the case here, it may well be that they come into play towards the end of this grand prix.

Did [Norris' engineer] say 'the Germany situation'?

I don't know what that refers to, there's not been a Germany Grand Prix in ages!

He did say 'the Germany situation', Andrew. But who knows what that could mean?!

An orange car comes into the pits, but it's that one-off livery of the Alpine, the Indiana Jones tribute, that is switching tyres. Esteban Ocon goes hard and comes out in 17th place.

  15. 'It's devastating to not be in the race' - Hamiltonpublished at 20:59 British Summer Time

    Jennie Gow
    F1 pit-lane reporter in Austin

Lewis Hamilton spoke to Jennie Gow on not being able to race after an early spin, he said: "I have never spun especially on the second lap, it's devastating to not be in the race because I love this race.

"It's obviously a similar situation to George yesterday, the car is very sensitive, it started bouncing, I wasn't even pushing. I lost a load of the rear and it came round."

On hoping for another win in the Mercedes with five races to go, he added: "Of course, that's what we're working towards. That is painful, it's never happened to me before but this weekend the confidence had gone already from the first spin we had.

"We need to go back to the drawing board and figure out what has been wrong with the car this weekend because it's not been normal. We will work on it and try and come back stronger."

  20. 'Track promotes great racing'published at 20:54 British Summer Time

    Marc Priestley
Former F1 mechanic on BBC Radio 5 Live

This is a wonderful race track because it promotes great racing, like we've seen up and down the field today. I love this place and so do the drivers, it gets the cars right on the edge of their aerodynamics, it's really high speed, quick change in direction, it's really exciting for us to watch.
