The fastest lap of the race goes to Charles Leclerc, who is now leading this US GP after spying a gap while Max Verstappen and Lando Norris were tussling out of the first corner.

Leclerc has gone and put his foot to the floor and we're back racing!

Max Verstappen has gone right with him.

Sho: These starts by Lando are embarrassing by this point. How many leads has he lost this year on the first corner?

    Lap 6/56

The DRS will have to wait for one lap as Charles Leclerc tries his best to peel away from the raging Red Bull just behind him. Turn 11 is completed by the front-runners and the Ferrari is keeping ahead of the chasing pack.

Alex Albon has pitted for repairs and is back out - right next to the Alpine of Esteban Ocon. Keep it clean, lads.

It looked like a low speed almost embarrassing accident [for Hamilton], he's on the harder tyres so maybe not quite up to full temperature yet.

It looked like Hamilton was on the wrong line to me.

He just got the entry completely wrong and then just lost the rear end of the car.

Lewis Hamilton's beached car is now being rescued by the marshals.

Out on track, Lando Norris feels Max Verstappen pushed him off the track, much like the race in Budapest, he says to his engineer. "He had no intention of making the corner," the Briton adds.

Lewis Hamilton is beached and in the gravel!

He's spinning up his rear tyres, he is facing towards the wall, it doesn't look like he's made contact with the wall.

He has come to a stop and that will surely end up in some sort of safety car, which we haven't seen in nine grand prix!

    Lap 2/56

What a start from Charles Leclerc. The Ferrari driver is ahead of the Max Verstappen by 1.3 seconds. Lando Norris lost multiple places in that first-lap squabble and is now down to fourth place. A massive blow to his title credentials. There is a long way to go, however.

Verstappen is under pressure straight away from the Ferrari of Sainz but there's a yellow flag...

We said Ferrari could be a threat and this is exactly how they were going to go and do it.

The two title protagonists really costing each other positions. Lando Norris did not need to lose position to Max Verstappen and that's exactly what he's done.
