As it stands Adam Yates could finish this stage second in the Tour. If he hangs on.

Fabio Aru, whose Astana team have been grafting all day, now punches out to the front. Romain Bardet still 40 seconds in front. Adam Yates is hanging on to the yellow jersey group. Just.
1.5km to go
Romain Bardet's gap to the peloton is about 40 seconds now. A first French win this year is in touch. Chris Froome is still battling on Geraint Thomas' bike and appears to be slowing the pace.
Richie Porte takes that as his cue to attack and he's followed by Nairo Quintanta.
This is proper racing.

This race is all over the side of this mountain. We are seeing fireworks.
2.5km to go
Adam Yates is struggling now. He's being dropped off the back of the peloton and his podium place looks under threat.
3km to go
Following his previous mechanical problem, Richie Porte is back in contention and he's the next man to lead an attack. Team Sky stay in touch.
Up ahead Rui Costa looks like he letting Romain Bardet go, but Dan Martin has broken free of the peloton and is chasing them hard.
4km to go
Rui Costa and Romain Bardet are still up ahead. Bardet is cheered on by supporters as he searches for a first home win of this year's Tour.
Chris Froome is at the front of the peloton after some serious work from Sky team-mate Wout Poels. But here's Dan Martin leading an attack.
This has been lively.

No-one is really taking advantage of an opportunity to attack Chris Froome. We've hardly seen Nairo Quintana all day.
7km to go
So Romain Bardet has struck at an opportune moment. The Frenchman, Adam Yates and Nairo Quintana are the only man general classification riders not to have suffered problems.
Chris Froome and Bauke Mollema have both crashed, while Richie Porte had a mechanical.
Bardet is 40 seconds ahead of the peloton.

Romain Bardet is riding really well and looking like he could finish the day on the GC podium.
8km to go
So Rui Costa is 25 seconds ahead of Romain Bardet and one minute 16 seconds ahead of the peloton, which includes Chris Froome, who is riding Geraint Thomas' bike.
Not ideal by any means for the yellow jersey holder. At least he's not running this time.
Yet.
9km to go
The chaos ensuing has allowed Romain Bardet a chance to make a break to try and catch Rui Costa. Can French rider Bardet earn a first home win of this year's Tour and close in on Nairo Quintana and Adam Yates in the general classification?
He started the day fifth overall.
10km to go
In some senses that was a good time to crash, if any, for Chris Froome given that Bauke Mollema also came down earlier.
Froome has a big scrape down his bike and I think that the yellow jersey holder took Geraint Thomas' bike as the Team Sky was well behind the riders.
That decent has been a real punisher. Riders falling everywhere. The good news is that they are about to start the final ascent of the stage.
11km to go
Chris Froome is in trouble now. He breaks hard, skids on a white line and is on the tarmac. Vincenzo Nibali has to take evasive action but Froome is back on his bike.
12km to go
Rui Costa is gliding around some of these corners, they look really hard to negotiate. And we have another crash, this time Dani Navarro is off the bike. Bauke Mollema has to avoid the incident.
13km to go
Dutch rider Bauke Mollema is the next rider to have gone down following a crash. That's a huge blow given he's second in the general classification.
Rui Costa still a minute in the lead.

Looks wet up there.
17km to go
As the rain falls down, Team Astana are still leading the chase, with Rui Costa (Lampre-Merida) up ahead.
The Kazakh team have certainly put in a shift today and will hope that leads to a stage win.
Don't forget we have a 10km category one climb to today's finish at Saint-Gervais Mont Blanc.
20km to go
The breakaway riders are being swallowed up by the peloton. Race leader Rui Costa is over a minute ahead but that gap is dropping. Dani Navarro is about to be caught by the main pack.
Look like the breakaway will come to an end before we reach the finish.
