And so that is it from me until the weekend. But what a fantastic stage we have in prospect tomorrow - 179.5km from Briancon to Izoard and surely the last serious chance for someone, anyone, to really try to take some time out of Chris Froome.

With a time trial in Marseille on Saturday, they will need to.

    Goodbye.

  2. Chapeau Roglicpublished at 16:53 British Summer Time 19 July 2017

And so a brilliant stage in the Alps saw a superb win for former world junior ski jumping champion Primoz Roglic and Chris Froome extend his lead at the top of the standings to 27 precious seconds.

That lead will doubtless be tested to the full tomorrow on the slope up to the summit finish at Izoard.

Sadly, there will be no Marcel Kittel when we start tomorrow. Nor Dan McLay. Nor Thibaut Pinot. They all abandoned.

"I just thought I'd test it out and make it uncomfortable for Sky. The tempo wasn't so hard so I thought I'd try them out. I'm not sure how Chris Froome is feeling, he's got a good poker face".

"I think I've jumped one place on the general classification and it's just good to feel good again".
