Looking as comfortable as one can in front of the race.
Primoz Roglic now leads by more than a minute from Darwin Atapuma, then there are three riders including Alberto Contador another minute back.
The yellow jersey group are now just 200m behind Contador and friends.
Simon Yates had lost touch but is riding his way back on.
How many abandons?
Adam Cox: 1998 189 starters 96 finishers. Is that enough Kevin.
This yellow jersey group are really pumping, this is brilliant racing.
Dan Martin has a go now.
Windy, steep hills, Aru desperate, just desperate to get up to Froome and Bardet and Martin.
"Aru cannot believe it - as soon as he gets back on they do not give him a second and he goes off again," says Rob Hayles.
Attacks happening all over the place now, Romain Bardet has a go and Chris Froome responds, as does Rigoberto Uran. They close the gap, as does Dan Martin and Mikel Landa.
Fabio Aru, Simon Yates and Louis Meintjes appear to be losing touch with them.
Meanwhile up at the front, Darwen Atapuma tries to close the gap on Primoz Roglic, who is about 45 seconds clear.
Dan Martin is hoovered up by the yellow jersey group. Warren Barguil is currently at the front of that group - and duly tries his luck, attacking off the front. I make it 10 left in the GC group.
The odd straggler sliding down the hill is being very, very swiftly overtaken.

Bit picky Kev.
Which was the worst year for abandonments in the last 30 years? 1928 is a little too far back to be relevant.

Dan Martin is opening up some daylight but every inch is being tremendously hard earned.
Up the road, Slovenian Primoz Roglic is really going for it. He has 5km before he reaches the summit.
There is nothing more painful than watching a rider who has put it in for his team finally give up the ghost. Trust me, Michal Kwiatowski looks like he is able to topple over (like I once did at the lights in Chorlton).
Dan Martin attacks off the front of the yellow jersey group.
"He has learnt from last year and had such a good Tour," said Rob Hayles. "He lost a bit of time yesterday but has bounced back."
LottoNL-Jumbo Primoz Roglic attacks off the front of the lead group.

Serge Pauwels being reeled in...
The front six might not be six for much longer, all getting a little elastic and Mathias Frank looks to be struggling.
Apologies for the problems we have been having.
Lots of tussling at the front. Serge Pauwels has opened up a slight lead from the five pursuing him (Dani Navarro has joined them).
They are 7.5km from the top of the Galibier. They are two and a half minutes clear of the (dwindling) yellow jersey group.
Apologies for the technical problems we are having with our live commentary feed from France.
Please do rest assured, we are working super hard to fix them.
It is all Team Sky at the front of the yellow jersey group. Fabio Aru is busy on the wheel of Chris Froome but you wouldn't say he was awash with team-mates.
Sun out.
Will we see any big GC moves today? Any all-out attacks? Or will that happen on the uphill finish on the Izoard tomorrow?
There are now five at the front - Mathias Frank and Darwin Atapuma joining the pain party on the Galibier.
See 15:12 BST
Excellent stuff - thanks Adam.
Adam Cox: 1928 - 162 starters and 41 finished
Just to be clear, there are still 11km to go until the top of the Galibier.
Alberto Contador, Serge Pauwels and Primoz Roglic currently working hard at the front.
This is hard work watching, let alone cycling.
Mind you, it all looks pretty amazing from some of the overhead shots.
I've not written the name of Romain Bardet for a while - will he have much of a say in terms of what happens over the next hour or so?
Frenchman Bardet is in the yellow jersey group three-and-a-half minutes behind the lead trio.

Nairo Quintana slides off the back of the peloton. Chris Froome and his Sky mates are looking in control at the front of it.
Quintana is having a Tour to forget.
"This is his fifth Grand Tour on the trot and it is starting to take its toll," said Rob Hayles.
