  1. Kwiatkowski goes secondpublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 22 July 2017

Here comes Kwiatkowski, sprinting into the stadium - it's going to be tight.

No! Bodnar hangs on to the lead. The Team Sky rider surrenders a crucial couple of seconds in the final stages to finish around one second down on his compatriot.

Someone is going to have to go great guns to beat Bodnar - Kwiatkowski left nothing out there but it was not enough.

Kwiatkowski is bearing down on his mintue man Jens Keukeleire in the final stages.

Meanwhile, Castroviejo - who crashed early on - finishes down in 12th.

Australian Michael Matthews has just finished - the Sunweb rider will end the Tour wearing green as the winner of the points classification.

I do not think anyone will begrudge Michael Matthews taking the green jersey. He was only nine points behind Marcel Kittel when the German abandoned in the Alps.

However Matthews has got it, it is through hard work, he has not just followed people around and had it handed to him on a plate.

  4. Kwiatkowski fastest at second checkpublished at 15:04 British Summer Time 22 July 2017

Kwiatkowski has got over the climb and is through the second time check - oof, he's just one second ahead of Bodnar now, having been six seconds up at the first.

    Can he hang on?

Primoz Roglic has just got under way.

The Slovenian won stage 17 in thrilling fashion and is an excellent time triallist too.

Has he got anything left in his legs to challenge for another stage win today?

  6. Postpublished at 14:58 British Summer Time 22 July 2017

Kwiatkowski onto the climb now. It should suit him and his punchy style.

Can he maintain his early advantage over Bodnar?

The climb up to the second checkpoint at Notre Dame de la Garde is very grippy and if you are not in the stadium watching then that is probably the best place for supporters.

The speed they go past you is fairly slow because it is quite steep and so as a spectator you get a good perspective.

  8. Kwiatkowski fastest at first checkpublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 22 July 2017

Well now. Michal Kwiatkowski is flying.

The Team Sky rider has just gone through the first time check six seconds faster than fellow Pole Maciej Bodnar.

Kwiatkowski is the Polish national time trial champion - is he just reasserting the hierarchy here?

Stefan Kung not quite able to trouble the podium as he goes fourth, 34 seconds behind Bodnar.

At just 23, the Swiss time trial champion will no doubt be back and challenging for these stages in the coming years.

Michal Kwiatkowski - a contender for best team-mate of the Tour - has just left the Stade Velodrome.

Further up the road, Edvald Boasson Hagen is sauntering up the climb, clearly saving his legs for Paris.

  15. Castroviejo crashespublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 22 July 2017

Movistar's Jonathan Castroviejo - a very good time triallist - has just managed to come off his bike after overcooking one of the first corners on the course.

The Spaniard is back up on a replacement soon enough but that's a lesson to others not to be careless in those early stages.

  16. Arndt goes thirdpublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 22 July 2017

Very impressive ride from Nikias Arndt, a day after his heartbreak on stage 19.

He goes third, 28 seconds down on Bodnar.

Yesterday's stage winner Edvald Boasson Hagen is over a minute down on Bodnar through the first time check.

Boasson Hagen is the Norwegian time trial champion but no interest in attacking this stage - could he challenge on the Champs Elysees tomorrow perhaps?

The man he beat into second yesterday, Nikias Arndt, has just gone through the second time check 20 seconds down on Bodnar.

The green jersey Michael Matthews is out on course, resplendent in an all-green skinsuit.

There are technically 20 points on offer for winning this stage, but Matthews won't be troubling Bodnar's time.

Not that he needs the points, having ensured an unassailable lead over Andre Greipel in that competition.

  20. Martin goes secondpublished at 14:25 British Summer Time 22 July 2017

Here comes Tony Martin...he's not going to do it.

The world time trial champion finally rolls into the stadium and across the line 15 seconds down on Maciej Bodnar.

Good enough for second but not good enough to beat the Pole. Martin will be disappointed to have missed out twice on this Tour now.
