  2. The Ineos team are all wearing yellow sunglasses, wearing shorts with yellow bands on and laughing and joking as they pedal along at the gentlest of paces.

    The fizz has been knocked back in no time. Now come on chaps up the speed a little, have you not heard I've got to live text this for the next few hours....

    Geraint who? The champagne is already out. Ineos Team principal Sir Dave Brailsford is passing out the bubbly from the team car, which is adorned with a yellow stripe down the middle.

  4. Julian Alaphilippe and Egan Bernal have just been having a natter. The Frenchman has been been a breath of fresh air at this Tour.

    He'd be well worth the admission fee alone....except of course as 10-12 million fans have already found out you can just rock up and watch this cycling extravaganza wheel by from the side of the road, without any charge.

    The roll out is under way.

    I'm not expecting this 128km stage from Rambouillet to the Champs-Elysees in Paris get much more frentic than this, serene pace.

    Because barring something entirely unprecedented I think we all know what is going to happen later today, with Egan Bernal poised to become the first Colombian to win the Tour de France after finishing Saturday's penultimate stage in the yellow jersey.

    That's because tradition dictates that the race leader is not challenged on Sunday's largely processional final stage to Paris.

    Bernal, 22, will become the youngest Tour winner for 110 years, with Ineos team-mate Geraint Thomas in second.

    Dutchman Steven Kruijswijk moved up to third as Julian Alaphilippe faded on an Alpine stage won by Vincenzo Nibali.
