Stage two winner Fabio Jakobsen: "Today is incroyable as we would say in French. For me it was a long process, step by step. A lot of people helped me along the way. This is to pay them back so they cab see that it was not for nothing.

"I’m happy that I still enjoy riding the bike racing and luckily I can still win. It is an amazing day and I’d like to help everyone who helped me to get to the end.

"The team kept me in a good position on the final straight I could stay behind [Michael] Morkov, he dropped me off on the wheel of [Wout] Van Aert and then I was next to [Peter] Sagan. We kind of touched each other but luckily we stayed upright then I just had the final stretch of 150m where I could launch and I could pass the other two.

"If I tell it like this it sounds easy but the legs were in pain. This is what we train for, this is why we race, a stage in the Tour de France, I have been dreaming about that for 15 years.

"It is the biggest race, as a sprinter you want to make it here and win. I would like to thank everyone in Denmark for cheering us on. I hope everyone at home enjoyed watching."

Time to hear from the stage winner whose victory at the Tour completes a remarkable comeback from the horrific injuries he sustained at the 2020 Tour of Poland.

Two stage. Two wins for Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl.

Not a bad start to the Tour de France eh. And Fabio Jakobsen more than justifying his selection for the race.

Not sure Wout van Aert could quite believe what happened there.

Filippo Ganna and Dani Martinez were both caught up in that crash.

It wouldn't be like the Tour de France to not have some sort of chaotic ending prior to a bunch sprint.

The defending champion Tadej Pogacar has been held up in that huge crash.

He shakes his head as if to indicate that he's okay as he rolls towards the finish with two punctured tyres.

  10. Van Aert claims Yellowpublished at 16:17 British Summer Time 2 July 2022

Wout van Aert will collect a six-second time bonus for his second-place finish.

So by my reckoning we'll have a new yellow jersey. From one Belgian in Yves Lampaert to another, in the man he beat in Friday's time trial.

  11. Jakobsen wins stage twopublished at 16:15 British Summer Time 2 July 2022

Fabio Jakobsen wins the sprint in Nyborg, holding off Wout van Aert and Mads Pedersen.

    What. A. Finish.

    Here we go....

  16. Postpublished at 2.2km to go

My, oh my. Big crash. Ineos' Dani Martinez is caught up in that

  17. Postpublished at 5km to go

Not a particularly technical run-in over the final few kilometres. There's a right-left after the bridge and then a sweeping left-hander in the final kilometre.

    Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl controlling this.

  18. Postpublished at 6km to go

Ineos right up at the front.

  19. Postpublished at 8km to go

Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl are positioning themselves at the front left of the peloton.

How much have the likes of Yves Lampaert and Michael Morkov got left in the tank?

This would normally be where Julian Alaphilippe and Tim Declercq would come to the fore.
