Page beats Magomedov by unanimous decision
Adesanya v Imavov
Nassourdine Imavov was born in Dagestan, Russia but moved to France as a nine-year-old where he began boxing and eventually moved into MMA.
He lost his professional debut in 2016 but quickly found his groove and earned a contract with the UFC after compiling an 8-2 record, including six victories inside the distance.
Imavov won his first appearance in the UFC as a middleweight but has also competed at welterweight and light-heavyweight during his career.
A three-fight win streak has propelled Imavov up the middleweight rankings and his currently sits at number five, with only Robert Whittaker (4), Khamzat Chimaev (3), Adesanya (2), Sean Strickland (1) and champion Dricus du Plessis above him.
Victory over Adesanya would put Imavov, who has an overall record of 15-2-1(NC), in the conversation for a title shot as he looks to become the first Frenchman to hold a unified UFC title.
Du Plessis makes the second defence of his belt at UFC 312 in Australia on 9 February.
Adesanya v Imavov
Nassourdine Imavov is on a run at the moment, he's won his last three fights and all against ranked opponents.
The French middleweight soaks in the atmosphere as he calmly walks to the octagon, closing his eyes and taking deep breaths.
We are just shy of seven years since Israel Adesanya made his UFC debut in February 2018.
The New Zealander put Rob Wilkinson away in two rounds at UFC 221 as he announced himself in fine fashion.
Side note, has anyone else noticed Adesanya isn't aging? Just me?
Adesanya would hold UFC gold by October 2019.
Ready for the main event?
Israel Adesanya and Nassourdine Imavov are up next.
Number three ranked UFC middleweight Khamzat Chimaev on X: "Congrats captain."
UFC lightweight Renato Moicano on X: "Easy decision for MVP! Master of distance but too old! He would be very competitive if he got in UFC 10 years ago!"
Pages beats Magomedov by unanimous decision
What next for Michael 'Venom' Page?
Thumbs up if you want him to stay at middleweight or thumbs down if he should drop back down to welterweight.
Pages beats Magomedov by unanimous decision
Michael 'Venom' Page, speaking on TNT Sport: "Thank you for having me here.
"You guys are extremely welcoming and I would love to come back.
"Look at me, look at me. I am the captain now!
"I wanted to mix it up. Shara Bullet is an amazing MMA fighter, regardless of this result he is going to go on and do some amazing things.
"One thing I knew coming out was my body wouldn't be used to this [weight]. I've got some work to do at 170lb, so watch out guys because I'm coming."
The judges agree!
Two scored it 30-27 with the other seeing it at 29-28.
Magomedov v Page
I've got this down as a pretty comfortable unanimous decision for Page - 30-27.
Let's see what the judges say...
Magomedov v Page
Much better from Magomedov as he catches Page with a right hook, that might be the first clean shot he's landed.
Magmoedov also sends his knee into the body.
Page goes for an audacious kick, flipping over in the process, and completely misses. He throws up a heel kick from the floor to protect himself and there goes the buzzer.
Magomedov v Page
Ohhhh! Page jumps in with a flying knee and it lands just shy of the chin, possibly on the chest.
Page has his back on the cage as they clinch but it's just an opportunity to get his breath as they break and it's back to the same pattern with Magomedov reluctant to pull the trigger and Page picking his moments.
Magomedov v Page
Page flaps his arms like a bird and then steps in to land with a right.
He follows up with a left jab and then gets out of range again. This all looks so easy for Page and Magomedov is yet to start emptying the tank.
Magomedov v Page
I've got Magomedov down by two rounds and that might make him even more dangerous as he has to go for a stoppage now.
Magomedov is already looking more aggressive as he attempts a spinning kick but he still can't get a gauge on the range.
Magomedov v Page
"He's going to go for broke now, Mike," says Page's corner.
Magomedov's corner has told him the fight is 1-1, not sure we agree with that.
Magomedov v Page
Page skips around the outside of the octagon with a smirk on his face as he continues to disrupt Magomedov's rhythm.
Page is just wide with an elbow as Magomedov steps forwards and they go into the clinch.
The Briton has control on the fence and lands a right as they part.
Another round in the bag for Page.
Magomedov v Page
Page stabs out a left jab and then gets back to range.
Magomedov is just simply not landing, he's barely even throwing.
"This is all you Michael," is the shout from Page's corner.
Magomedov v Page
Magomedov looks to be struggling with Page's style... he's not the first.
Magomedov v Page
Ever the showman, Page waves his hand as Magomedov misses with two kicks.
Page comes off both feet with an unorthodox spinning kick but it's parried.
The pair end up in a clinch in the centre of the octagon after Page closes the distance with a swinging right.
Magomedov v Page
A huge contrast in the corners...
"We're not creating anything," Magomedov's coach says.
Page, meanwhile, stays on his feet and sips his water.
