  1. Round onepublished at 18:59 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

    Magomedov v Page

Page is at his best when he can counter punch but Magomedov is giving him little to come back at, although the Londoner still looks comfortable in there.

Page finds a home with a spinning kick just before the buzzer.

There wasn't a huge amount to score in that round but Page takes it for me.

    Magomedov v Page

Page is so good at managing range and Magomedov is yet to land anything apart from that calf kick.

Page gets a little reckless and possibly even slips on some of the blood on the canvas from an earlier fight as he misses with an overhand right and almost falls straight into a guillotine, but he escapes as they fall back to the fence.

The pair exchange calf kicks and the tempo drops as we go into the final minute of the round.

  3. Round onepublished at 18:56 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

    Magomedov v Page

Page throws out a kick to the head but it's parried by Magomedov.

No questions over who has the support in Riyadh tonight as chants of "Shara, Shara, Shara" ring around the arena.

Page, who is bouncing around in his traditional karate stance, sees another kick blocked and Magomedov returns with a calf kick.

The Londoner, as always, is thoroughly enjoying his walk to the cage. He's body-popping and dancing all the way down the aisle.

Unbeaten Sharabutdin Magomedov is just four fights into his UFC career but he has already attracted a lot of attention as he looks to establish himself as a title contender.

Magomedov boasts a 15-0 record with 12 of those victories coming inside the distance, including a highlight reel double spinning backfist knockout win against Armen Petrosyan in October.

No one has been able to match the Russian on the feet but Michael 'Venom' Page has earned a reputation for being a formidable striker with an exemplary ability to judge range.

"Shara has that [aura] around him but I can see in his ability something I can exploit," Page said.

"If I put the 'MVP' effect in front of him, it might ruin all of that. There is just something I saw there that made sense to me."

Michael 'Venom' Page looked destined to be on the UFC London card but says he had agreed to face Sharabutdin Magomedov before UFC confirmed the 22 March date.

MVP is no stranger to competing in London, having done so on seven occasions during his stint in Bellator and he is eager to make that eight appearances in the capital, with fellow Briton Leon Edwards in his sights.

Birmingham's Edwards meets Jack Della Maddalena when the UFC returns to London.

"There is no way I am going to be in the UFC and not fight on a London card," Page said.

"It definitely should have happened in the UK. There's nowhere near as much malice between me and Leon, but it's equally an exciting fight to have.

"But it has to happen in the UK. I wouldn't let it happen anywhere else."

A graph showing the longest win streaks in UFC history

What Khabib Nurmagomedov will always have over Islam Makhachev is the rare feat of retiring undefeated.

Makhachev's solitary blemish on his 28-fight record is a knockout defeat by Adriano Martins in 2015.

But Makhachev does have opportunities in the UFC to accomplish things Nurmagomedov never did.

He already holds the record for the longest winning streak in UFC history at lightweight with 15, putting him one win away from equalling middleweight legend Anderson Silva's all-time record of 16 consecutive victories.

Only the last 13 of Nurmagomedov's fights came in the UFC, with his previous 16 contested in different promotions.

Makhachev has also said he wants to win a title in another weight class - something Nurmagomedov never did - even suggesting he could become the first triple champion in UFC history.

It's up for debate whether Makhachev has already surpassed Nurmagomedov's accomplishments.

But while his mentor's MMA career ended at aged 32, Makhachev seems still some way off his final chapter.

  17. Nurmagomedov v Makhachev - who leads lightweight GOAT race?published at 18:26 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

A BBC edit of Islam Makhachev and Khabib Nurmagomedov

Just a week ago we saw Islam Makhachev beat Renato Moicano to make the fourth defence of his lightweight title, breaking the record of his close friend, mentor and coach, Khabib Nurmagomedov.

UFC president declared Makhachev as the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the promotion, having long placed heavyweight champion Jon Jones on that pedestal.

Nurmagomedov retired undefeated in 2020 and is considered by many as one of the greatest to ever to step into the cage, but is it time for Makhachev to be considered in the same bracket?

BBC Sport's Paul Battison has been investigating how the Dagestan pair compare and where their paths differ.

  19. 'Focus is welterweight championship belt'published at 18:22 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

    Magomedov v Page

Michael 'Venom' Page signed for the UFC in 2024 and has one win and one defeat on his record with the promotion.

Page, 37, can't afford any further mistakes if he wants to stake his claim for a shot at gold.

Facing undefeated Sharabutdin Magomedov is risky but Page believes it's one worth taking, although he still intends to return to welterweight.

"If there is exciting fights to be made at middleweight, I would happily take it. But the focus is a welterweight championship belt," he said.

"I'm going to try and dedicate as much as my time at welterweight to get that belt and move up in the rankings."
