  1. Cross takes out 110 to leadpublished at 20:39 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

    Cross 5-4 Van Barneveld

    Brilliant from Rob Cross.

Raymond van Barneveld had left himself double top, Cross needed 110 and with the pressure on he nails it.

Slap bang in the middle of the double 16 to go to within a leg of victory.

  2. Cross hits backpublished at 20:37 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

    Cross 4-4 Van Barneveld

Big moment in the game as Rob Cross hits back.

With 61 needed, he wanted to go 25 and double 18 but he hit the bull.

That took him to double four, next door to double 18. One dart, in it goes and we're all square again.

Which way is this one going?

  3. Barney breakspublished at 20:35 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

    Cross 3-4 Van Barneveld

A huge roar from the crowd as Raymond van Barneveld breaks to go 4-3 up!

Rob Cross is being punished for his sloppiness on the doubles. HIs checkout percentage is just 18.8% with a miss on double seven giving Barney the chance.

He takes it and the fans love it!

  4. Barney draws levelpublished at 20:33 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

    Cross 3-3 Van Barneveld

Raymond van Barneveld leaves himself 129 to level it again. Needing the bullseye, he hits the outter bull and Rob Cross has a chance to break.

However, he goes back to double 18, misses twice more and Barney comes back to scramble a hold.

Double 18 may not be Cross' favourite double for much longer...

  5. Cross back in frontpublished at 20:30 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

    Cross 3-2 Van Barneveld

Rob Cross bounces back and leaves himself double 18 again.

There is no pressure from Raymond van Barneveld but Cross still misses his first two darts at it.

The third nestles inside just inside the wire, though, and brings a wry smile from the Englishman.

  6. All squarepublished at 20:29 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

    Cross 2-2 Van Barneveld

What a difference a leg makes!

Suddenly, we're level at two legs apiece. Rob Cross was flying but missed umpteen darts at his favourite double and Raymond van Barneveld is back in this.

    A relatively straightforward hold.

  7. Barney breaks backpublished at 20:26 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

    Cross 2-1 Van Barneveld

Third leg of the match and a third 180 for Rob Cross.

He is bossing this contest so far. Well, he was...

He misses his favoured double 18 and then three more on his next visit.

Still Raymond van Barneveld can't capitalise but Cross misses again, hits 18 and then misses double nine, too!

Barney comes in to clean up and - somehow - we're back on throw.

  8. Cross breakspublished at 20:22 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

    Cross 2-0 Van Barneveld

Rob Cross immediately puts the pressure on against the throw with another 180.

It's been a struggle for Raymond van Barneveld so far and he can't respond.

Cross gets the break with ease.

  9. Cross goes one uppublished at 20:20 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

    Cross 1-0 Van Barneveld

Rob Cross hits the first maximum of the match. Not quite the usual roar that goes with that given the Den Bosch crowd have made their allegiances quite clear.

The Englishman doesn't care and he hits double six for a 12-darter.

He takes the first leg to as close to silence as you get at the darts!

  10. Postpublished at 20:18 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

    Cross 0-0 Van Barneveld

Here we go. Rob Cross has the darts.

  11. Postpublished at 20:15 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

    Cross v Van Barneveld

Huge cheers as Raymond van Barneveld, holding a Dutch flag, walks on to Eye of the Tiger.

"Barney Army! Barney Army!" chant the crowd. That's some welcome for the five-time world champ.

It's fair to say Rob Cross' reception is not quite as warm...

  12. Postpublished at 20:14 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

    Cross v Van Barneveld

The Dutch are taking over in Den Bosch... and next up it's one of the greats, Raymond van Barneveld.

Can he overcome fellow former world champion Rob Cross and send another PDC star packing?

  13. 'Scrappy wins are good'published at 20:12 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

    Smith 3-6 Van Veen

Gian van Veen talking to ITV: "We didn't play our best game, both of us. But I'm happy to scrape the win. Scrappy wins are good, I like to scrappy games, of course you want to play well, but scrappy games mean the most.

"I thought 'uh oh, here we go' at 2-1 but once I opened up the lead I wasn't letting it go.

"I'm really looking forward to tomorrow. Danny Noppert is a good friend of mine and we both know what we're capable of. He played phenomenal today, I didn't, hopefully it's the other way round tomorrow."

  14. Postpublished at 20:08 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

That makes it 3-1 on the night to the local players. None of them progressed in last week's Bahrain Masters.

Gian Van Veen's victory sets up an all-Dutch encounter against Danny Noppert tomorrow.

Noppert beat Nathan Aspinall 6-2 in our opening game of the night if you're just joining us.

Wales' Gerwyn Price will face Kevin Doets in our other confirmed quarter-final.

  15. Van Veen shocks Smithpublished at 20:05 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

    Smith 3-6 Van Veen

Michael Smith just hasn't got going in this game. He really hasn't looked like the world number three.

Gian van Veen has match darts on double 16.

He misses initially before sinking right in the middle.

The 21-year-old shocks Smith on his World Series debut.

  16. Smith pulls a leg backpublished at 20:03 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

    Smith 3-5 Van Veen

There's that elusive 180 for Michael Smith. It comes after some words with a cameraman about a flash too.

He looks a bit grumpy though, throwing rather lazily at bullseye for the checkout. He misses and then can't tidy up 25.

It leaves Gian van Veen with a 120 and match darts on double tops but he goes high.

Smith claims the leg with double four.

  17. Van Veen moves one away from victorypublished at 20:00 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

    Smith 2-5 Van Veen

Gian van Veen is simply playing better than Michael Smith here.

The 2023 World champion is yet to hit a 180, while Van Veen has twice.

The 21-year-old has a chance to take out 80 to move to within one leg, but misses double tops.

Smith can't finish 119 though and Van Veen cleans up the 20 needed.

  18. Van Veen breaks again to open two-leg leadpublished at 19:58 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

    Smith 2-4 Van Veen

Gian van Veen fires in a maximum to leave 170.

He nails treble 20 twice to leave bullseye.

    Can he? No. Just misses.

He takes out double eight to claim the leg on his next visit though. That's three legs in a row.

  19. Van Veen edges aheadpublished at 19:56 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

    Smith 2-3 Van Veen

Gian van Veen is growing in confidence on his World Series debut.

He takes on a 127 finish, despite Michael Smith being well back, but fires into the outer bull.

Van Veen returns to clear up for a 14-darter.

  20. Van Veen breaks straight backpublished at 19:55 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

    Smith 2-2 Van Veen

This is the best game of the night so far.

It's a bit of scrappy leg from Michael Smith, getting his set-up play wrong.

It leaves Gian van Veen with a 107 checkout and he nails double tops with his final dart.

    We're back on throw.
