Peter Wright is getting better. There was a lot to like about his performance with Michael van Gerwen last week.

He needs some points desperately but performances are getting better and he's got to take confidence from it.

The crowd are back in full voice to welcome Luke Littler to the stage.

There are then a few boos before Peter Wright is announced but he soon gets them back on side, doing his now traditional jig across the stage.

His black and white outfit probably doesn't hurt in terms of appeasing the locals...

  3. 'It hasn't gone too bad'published at 20:21 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2024

Luke Littler speaking to Sky Sports about his start to the Premier League: "It hasn't gone too bad, I'm sitting in third place. I just wanted to come to every venue and guarantee myself two points. It didn't quite happen last week because I missed double and couldn't get the break of throw.

"I'm looking forward to tonight. I've had another three days practice in Leicester so I should be alright.

"Everyone is a challenge, that's why we're in the Premier League. I've been watching Peter Wright for years and he changes this and he changes that. He's been throwing well and so have I so if we can both keep it up it should be a good game."

  4. Littler plays down 'crazy' Taylor comparisonspublished at 20:20 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2024

Luke Littler says the comparisons with Phil Taylor are "crazy", and that he does not see the darts legend's records being broken.

Littler, 17, made headlines with his astonishing run to the final of the PDC World Darts Championship in January.

His performances led ex-world champion and current world number three Michael Smith to say that he could surpass the 16-time world champion's achievements.

"I'm still gobsmacked that I'm here," Littler said.

In addition to his 16 world titles - which included eight in a row - the now-retired Taylor, 63, won a record 85 major tournaments.

"I don't think anyone's beating that record. It's just crazy, crazy to think of me being bigger than Phil," Littler added.

It has been a tough few months for Peter Wright and it won't get any easier tonight as he faces Luke Littler in the quarter-finals.

The Scot has yet to win in the Premier League in 2024 and after an improved showing in Berlin a couple of weeks back, he never got going last time out as he lost 6-2 to Michael van Gerwen.

It was also a frustrating night for Littler in Glasgow.

He lost 6-5 to Gerwyn Price in the quarters and was visibly frustrated with himself after needlessly attempting to go double-double to win the deciding leg.

The 17-year-old made the final the week before and so far in the Premier League, his only losses have come after a final-leg shootout.

Result: Rob Cross 6-5 Luke Humphries

A really high-quality match but Rob Cross comes out on top.

Despite a slow start, Luke Humphries still finishes with an average of 102.47.

He hit five of his six doubles as well and yet - somehow - he has lost.

That is because Rob Cross was on it as well, averaging 98.51 and holding his nerve on throw to hit 60% of his 10 darts at double.
