An update from the tennis centre before we leave you...

Gordon Reid and Alfie Hewett progressed to the men's doubles semi-finals earlier with a straight sets win over Spain. 

But their female counterparts Jordanne Whiley and Lucy Shuker are one set and 4-3 down against the Netherlands Jiske Griffoen and Aniek van Koot. 

On court later, Britain's Andy Lapthorne takes on American David Wagner in the men's quad singles semi-finals.

London gold medalist, Great Britain's Helena Lucas, leads after day one in the 2.4MR class on the Paralympic sailing course. She told me dodging rubbish on the course is hard work but the jet turbulence from the nearby airport makes picking your course to steer extremely hard!

Sascha Kindred has been an inspiration to so many on the British Paralympic team over the years, among them BBC Radio 5 Live reporter Kate Grey and she was one of the first to interview him after his gold medal and world record swim here tonight.

"Sascha was always the person you went to on the squad in order to get some advice on your swimming or how to deal with the pressure and he helped anyone who asked," she told me afterwards.

"He is a rock-solid figure and the ultimate professional. Any young swimmer should aspire to be like him because he does it right."

I call him the warrior because he's always fighting, he always wants to win and you cannot teach that. 

He'll be disappointed but he'll be back determined to fight for a win here.

Susie Rodgers speaking to BBC's Kate Grey on Radio 5 live: "The whole experience has been unbelievable. I won't be able to come down. I won't be able to sleep. 

"I couldn't believe it and I think you could tell by the look on my face. But I knew it was in there somewhere because me and my coach have been working on it. 

"I was ill for six weeks, in and out of hospital, so I thought I really never could win. That's horrible to say but I really couldn't believe I could win it. 

"I'm looking forward to being on the podium later. I'm going to love every minute of it."

Paralympic champion Susie Rodgers has just given a brilliant interview to Channel 4.

"Did that just happen?" said the Briton. "I literally can't believe it. I'm in actual shock.

"I didn't know where I was or where everyone else was. I didn't know I could go that quick. 

"It proves at the age of 33, you can pull it out the bag when you have to. 

"My job is done! Oh, it's not. I've got more races."

New Zealand's Sophie Pascoe is being interviewed underneath the stand as team-mate Cameron Leslie is presented with his SM4 150m medley gold medal poolside.

Pascoe is one of her country's sporting superstars and the gold in the S10 100m butterfly is her third title in Rio and her ninth overall.

It hasn't been the easiest of times for the Kiwi whose friend and training partner Hayley Edmond died from cancer earlier this month.

That was an emotion-packed 10 minutes of swimming at the Aquatics Stadium and if we see the likes of it again here in Rio, we'll be lucky.

First of all, the veteran of the swim team Sascha Kindred pushed every inch of his 38-year-old body to the absolute limit for his seventh Paralympic gold - 16 years after his first one - and in a new world record time.

This is a man who is at least 10 years older than his rivals and who had found himself first disqualified and then reinstated into the SM6 200m medley final.

Then the face of the team Ellie Simmonds blitzed her rivals to retain her medley title, dipping under the three minute-mark for the first time.

And there are still two GB swimmers to go in finals this evening.

“What a rollercoaster day this has been. To swim like that, it’s just amazing, I don’t know what more you can ask for," said GB gold medalist Sascha Kindred.

“I thought about retirement after London but I wasn't happy with how I performed there and I knew I had more in me and I didn't want that to be my last competitive swimming memory. 

"The last four years have been just amazing and this is the perfect ending."

GB's Ellie Simmonds told Channel Four: "I was so nervous going into that race. 

"I was like I'm going to be sick but it's not sunk in what I've done yet. I know my time was under three minutes so I'm really happy with it. It's a target I've set and I've wanted to go under for a long time. I'm really chuffed."
