Early chance for Sociedad, Antoine Griezmann firing at Jose Pinto. Danger for Barca, who lost for the first time in two months at the weekend.
BBC Sport's Paul Fletcher at Deepdale: "It is still teeming down at Deepdale, but the crowd don't seem too bothered, they are busy enjoying an enthralling cup tie.
"Plenty of North End fans thought a shot from Kevin Davies that narrowly missed had gone in. The Forest fans enjoyed that one. Cheers, then taunting jeers."
Under way at the Nou Camp.
Should Forest be 2-0 up? Simon Cox has the ball in the back of the net, but the flag is up. The last touch before Cox was actually off a PNE defender, but by then play had been halted. Looks like a poor decision.
Fancy running all that way to then balloon the ball over the bar. Jamie Mackie picks it up on the halfway line, has five Preston defenders after him, but still gets space for the shot inside the 18-yard box. It's awful, though, miles over.
Some sections of Deepdale think this is in the fish-catcher, but Kevin Davies has merely ruffled the side-netting. Curling from Davies, past the flying Dorus De Vries, but wide.
James Butcher: , externalOne of the only games North End get to gauge what will happen if they get promoted this season. Deepdale ready for Joe Garner.
We're down to only one match at the moment, but there's still one whole game to be played out for your entertainment. Barcelona v Real Sociedad is go at 21:00 GMT. Lovely.
Whilst they were halting proceedings in Madrid, we were getting back under way at Deepdale. Preston have 45 minutes to stay in the FA Cup.
All over at the Bernabeu, Real Madrid taking a huge step towards the Copa del Rey final. In truth, though Atletico had a couple of decent chances, Real are value for their three-goal lead. The most surprising aspect? All 22 men made it to the full-time whistle.
What a chance for 4-0. Alvaro Morata is fed by Cristiano Ronaldo, the sort of cross you'd happily mug your sister for. All along the ground, six yards out, but put wide. Ronaldo is livid, probably wondering why he bothered.
...straight at the wall.
Real free-kick, 30 yards out. Ronaldo...
Jim Patterson: , externalCertainly not the best 1st half, but happy to go in 1-0 up. Midfield looks weak, good job the defence is so solid.
Lionel Messi starts alongside Xavi, Cesc Fabregas and Daniel Alves as Barcelona aim to bounce back after suffering their first home league defeat since April 2012 with a 3-2 reverse against Valencia at the weekend.
Barcelona: Pinto, Pique, Fabregas, Xavi, Pedro, Alexis, Messi, Mascherano, Sergio, Jordi Alba, Alves.
France international Antoine Griezmann, a reported target for Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United in the January transfer window, starts for Real Sociedad. Former Arsenal forward Carlos Vela will line up alongside him.
Real Sociedad: Zubikarai, Mikel, Elustondo, Inigo, Griezmann, Vela, Ansotegi, Zurutuza, J Angel, Gaztanaga, Zaldua.
Everyone is going in the book in Madrid. Now it's Atletico coach Diego Simeone. Slick-back hair, stubble, black coat, he's a man I wouldn't mess with. Scorer of Real's second goal Jese departs to a standing ovation, replaced by Isco.
Louis Barrett:, external I feel so sorry for Thibaut Courtois! Two goals which he had covered but they took massive defections off Miranda and Insua. Unlucky..
BBC Sport's Paul Fletcher at Deepdale: "The opening half belonged to North End in every regard except the goal column. They played with skill and confidence but Jackie Mackie's goal was worthy of giving any team the lead.
"The home fans definitely suspect Forest's players of wasting time and the atmosphere is lively to say the least - a situation helped (or not) by a series of heavy tackles and niggly fouls. That will suit the away team."
Half-time at Deepdale, Nottingham Forest somehow leading despite Preston having all the play. Can the home side get back in it? If they can, we have the prospect of a League One side definitely reaching the quarter-finals.
