"That was a big moment for Steven Naismith, a great knockdown from Romelu Lukaku, and he has to hit the target from there. Otherwise, no-one has really grabbed hold of this game. Everton are in control of the ball, United look dangerous on the counter attack. But overall it's pretty even."

Steven Naismith only has himself to blame this time as Romelu Lukaku heads a long ball into his path but the Scottish striker blazes his effort over the bar. Take a touch, Steven.

"It was a tight call. The shot was definitely goal-bound and hit the arm of Jonny Evans. The referee was in a good position to make a decision and perhaps he thought Evans's hand was in an 'unnatural' position."

  4. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 20 April 2014

Everton are livid - they feel they should be given a penalty when Steven Naismith's shot is charged down by Jonny Evans and strikes the United defender on the arm. However, referee Mark Clattenburg shakes his head and move on we must. The man in black is probably right this time.

Pass, pass, pass from Manchester United, but they are not really making any real dent in the rigid Everton lines. There is very little nous in the visitors' play as Wayne Rooney fires a long pass to the back stick but the move comes to nothing.

Steven Naismith has surprised a few people in recent weeks with his performances and he tees up Romelu Lukaku for a shot, but the Belgian's effort is straight into a defender.

"Seamus Coleman is causing Manchester United plenty of problems down Everton's right flank at the moment. What United would give for a pair of full-backs of the quality of either him or Leighton Baines."

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger: "Aaron Ramsey is getting back to full fitness and sharpness, but everyone played well today. It was a good team performance as it will be when you win 3-0 away from home in a game you have to win.

"We have had to cope to five six players all out at the same time and we have done as well as we can. You live in the real world.

"The Cup final is a completely different game, we are focused on the Premier League and finishing as high as we can."

Ross Barkley's not got his shooting boots on just yet - blazing well and truly over the bar after John Stones's excellent cross from the right had found its way to him just inside the area.

Manchester United are passing the ball about quite well - they always look a better outfit with Darren Fletcher in there giving the side direction.

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey: "It feels good to be back and hopefully I can put in more good performances before the end of the season. The pitch was a bit bobbly today and they are a well-organised side who get the ball wide, put crosses in and are dangerous. But we scored some good counter-attacking goals.

"We have beaten Hull twice this season, but it is a Cup final and you cannot take anything for granted, but we will go into that game confident in our ability.

"We will go into that game with confidence and if we do well at the end of this season it could be our most successful for many years."

Have Everton taken a different route to the same destination this season? Or will they finally break into the top four. They need to win today if that's to happen and they have started on the front foot - stretching Manchester United down the flanks.

Yaseen: Looking at the Manchester United bench today it shows they really do have an outstanding squad, they just need some stellar signings to fit into the first 11.

Liam: Good to see Fletcher playing, United look so much better with him in the centre than with Fellaini but Valencia should be on instead of Nani.

Rob: So Fellaini left Goodison to go to a bigger club? Not in the 11 today and wouldn't be for Everton either. Year to forget for that man.
