Germany now lining up with Miroslav Klose as an orthodox centre-forward and Thomas Muller and Mesut Ozil in behind him. They look pretty dangerous so far...
Former United States captain Claudio Reyna played in three World Cups
Hands up if you thought the USA would qualify from Group G ahead of tournament? Me neither.
One man who did predict that was ex-Stars and Stripes skipper Claudio Reyna. "I've got a feeling we can do well and get out of it," Reyna, who played in three World Cups, told BBC Sport earlier this month. "It will take some big performances. But qualifying for the knockout stage would be a huge success."
Now the USA are just 45 minutes from proving Reyna right and snaffling a place in the last-16.
Great defending from Omar Gonzalez saves the US! Jerome Boateng's cross from the right is a peach, Mesut Ozil has a free header until Gonzalez appears from nowhere to head it away. Brilliant.
A possible substitution to liven the game up? From the United States team's official Twitter feed:, external
"Possible sub for #USAvGER off the bench in the second half. #LetsDoThis #USAvGER"
We are back under way in both games. Can Miroslav Klose break the deadlock...?
Players back out at both games as the United States midfield go through a bizarre military-style drill...
Germany have sent on record chasing man Miroslav Klose. He comes on for Lukas Podolski.

"The approaches to the stadium finally brought relief from the floodwaters and the traffic. But as the game kicked off, it was clear many fans still had not managed to get through and take their seats. This is the "mini-monsoon" season in this part of Brazil but few expected the disruption."
As it stands, Germany will win the group and are likely to face Algeria, Russia or South Korea. USA will finish second and are likely to come up against Belgium...
BBC Sport's Ben Smith in Recife
"A storm that swept into Recife overnight caused total chaos as fans, players and media attempted to navigate the 20 miles to Arena Pernambuco. Within a few minutes roads had turned into rivers. Waves were sweeping around the streets, locals were wading through three feet of water in places. Central Recife simply ground to halt. Cars were abandoned on the side of the road where the flood waters had simply become too much.
"A recovery truck broke down in the middle of one of the main highways and locals soon began charging £2 or £3 to push cars, vans and even trucks through the worst of the flooding. With taxis unable to get to hotels to pick fans up many began to walk the huge distance to the stadium, others headed for the city's metro, which was overwhelmed by huge numbers of fans trying to get to the ground."
Goalless at the break then, but we are doing well to be playing at all given the weather in Recife this afternoon...

"It's 0-0. It's inching towards what I thought might be the case. Joachim Low looks as if he's walked out of the ocean. He's absolutely drenched."

"After the first 10-15 minutes I thought if Germany got one goal then they'll get six. America were so poor. But they grew into the game and the last 10-15 minutes they had pace in the midfield, made runs and it is now an even game. I'm looking forward to the second half because after 15 minutes it was a walkover - not any more."

"The way that Germany started I'd have to say the teams were not content to play for a draw that will send them both through. They tried to score and then the US tried to score. But my fear is that if Germany go a goal up then they will pick the US off on the break."

"A draw suits both these sides, of course. Germany do, however, looked determined to win this and top the group to avoid a last-16 tie with Belgium in Salvador. Germany did have the best of the early exchanges, particularly down the right. But the US have gradually grown in confidence and there were times when they picked their way through the German defence. Rain still falling."
Portugal are not happy that the referee blows for half-time just as they are about to take a throw. They lead but they are going home as it stands.
We have hit half-time. It started well but has slowed down. This could turn into a bore draw after all...
Former England defender Danny Mills

"What we need is Germany to score. That would force the United States to attack and give Portugal a bit of a boost as well. Then we might get a slightly more explosive game in the second half."
Harry Clark:, external "In fact it's not just Bradley - it's the whole USA team - chasing every ball and fighting for everything."
