Patric Juillet:, external The Dutch will stick one in and this match will end up like Brazil v Chile yesterday. Mexico to go through.

Raffiyel:, external How Croatia got one past Guilllermo Ochoa we'll never know.

    Drinks break

    *Cooling break alert*

These should definitely be announced with the help of a rugby league-style hooter. Both sets of players have a chance to stock up on the H2O for the second time today. Who will benefit more from that break? I reckon Mexico.

  3. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 18:37 British Summer Time 29 June 2014

    Robin van Persie comes off

Plenty of Manchester United interest in a pair of substitutions. Mexico introduce Javier Hernandez, who could land himself in the bad books with new Old Trafford boss Louis van Gaal if he bags. Then, Robin van Persie is rather surprisingly hooked in favour of Klass-Jan Huntelaar. Huge call from Van Gaal.

"Brilliant goalkeeping by Guillermo Ochoa. He tried to close down the space. Ninety nine times out of 100 Arjen Robben goes down under that kind of challenge but Ochoa gets out there and saves with his feet."

After that period of Dutch dominance, Mexico appear to have ridden out the storm. Ah, I've spoke too soon. Arjen Robben sprints clear again, hurdling over Rafeal Marquez's flailing challenge, only to be denied by Guillermo Ochoa.

How the Dutch need Robben or Robin to bag one now....

Gordon Hayward:, external Mexico seem to be dropping deep. This match is not over yet.

David McNaught:, external Hope Dirk Kuyt has sun block! Poor lad, out on the left in the sun first half, now moved from the shade back to the sun!

"I am just looking at the change the Mexico coach made, and I think I under-sold him a bit because it is a really clever change. Javier Aquino I see as a winger but he has been brought on to sit right in front of Memphis Depay and make sure he does not get the ball."

  9. YELLOW CARDpublished at 18:30 British Summer Time 29 June 2014

First booking of the afternoon and it is a costly one. Mexico defender Paul Aguilar scythes through the back of Memphis Depay to rule himself out of the quarter-final - should his team get there, of course.

  10. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 18:28 British Summer Time 29 June 2014

Rafael Marquez is rolling back the years. The Mexico skipper cuts out a Dutch throughball before elegantly breaking out of defence like a modern-day Bobby Moore. Class. That sets up a Mexican counter which ends with Oribe Peralta sticking the ball in to the back of the net. Unfortunately for him the offside flag had been raised about 20 seconds earlier.

"The Netherlands will start pushing players forward and naturally Mexico will fall back a bit but they have made a change that will slightly help the defence as well."

Still Mexico allow Arjen Robben to drift in from the right flank. Crazy. This time, the Dutch flyer pings a cross into the danger zone and it just misses the bald bonce of Wesley Sneijder by a matter of inches.

Donald Oluoch:, external Guillermo Ochoa has just proved that the point-blank saves against Brazil were not a fluke. Brilliant save.

Tom Miszkowski:, external Don't think Ochoa knew a great deal about that one, great reaction save nonetheless.

"What a tournament Guillermo Ochoa is having. Denied Brazil, defied belief with that save with his nut."

  15. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 18:22 British Summer Time 29 June 2014

Change for Mexico as they aim to stifle the revitalised Dutch. Goalscorer Giovani Dos Santos is replaced by Villarreal team-mate Javier Aquino. Forward off, midfielder on. That tells you everything you need to know.

This match has caught fire. One thing you don't do is let Arjen Robben cut in from the right. But the Mexicans do and he tees up Wesley Sneijder, who slips as his shot is deflected wide.

  17. GREAT SAVE!published at 18:20 British Summer Time 29 June 2014

    Guillermo Ochoa save

A simply brilliant save by Guillermo Ochoa to deny the Netherlands. A corner is whipped in and Stefan de Vrij smashes a volley goalwards from barely six yards out and Ochoa reacts instinctively to bat it away. Stunning stuff. Ochoa is out of contract this summer, that will surely enhance the list of suitors. Did it smash Ochoa on the nose? I think it did. Unorthodox but he won't care.

  18. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 18:18 British Summer Time 29 June 2014

Change for the Dutch as Louis van Gaal makes a tactical tweak. Walking in, Memphis Depay - who scored twice in the group stage. Off goes Paul Verhaegh, with Dirk Kuyt going to right-back. Seriously.

Ooof! Mexico sting the palms of Dutch keeper Jasper Cillessen again. North American player of the year Oribe Peralta goes close with a drive.

How the Dutch need Arjen Robben to produce a moment of magic. He wins a corner down the right, steps up to whip in the set-piece and is then tasked with doing the same again. But the Mexican defence are organised and head clear.
