"Whoever went down for Germany - I think it was Muller - wanted a penalty. It looked like one to me, but the referee didn't give it."
End-to-end-to-end stuff. There will be some tired legs in Porto Alegre.
Manuel Neuer drops an Algerian corner, he scrambles and collects though before playing an amazing through ball, 65 yards into Andre Schurle's path and Germany now win a corner.
Thomas Muller wants a penalty before Algeria counter and have a chance but Germany survive. Breathless!
Neuer could easily play outfield. That was a sensational pass.

"That was Germany's best chance of the match. Either side of the goalkeeper and it's in. It has been a good start by Germany, who are playing a lot quicker."
Instant impact from Andre Schurrle! He bursts on to a cute lay-off from Thomas Muller, hammers in a drive which deflects off the heel of a defender and spins wide of the target. No more than two foot wide.
From the corner, Toni Kroos beats a man and stands it up, Shkodran Mustafi meets it with a powerful header but it's straight at Rais Mbolhi. Great start from Germany.
The stadium is very slow to fill back up again as Germany boss possession early doors. The fans must be getting the Brazilian equivalent of a Bovril in. Chris Waddle's got his coat on, that's how cold it is...
And we are back under way. Can Algeria keep up that rampant pace and pressure?
Andre Schurrle is indeed on at the break, the Chelsea man has replaced Mario Gotze in the Germany side. He will add some energy and pace - which is what they need at centre-half to be honest.
Here we go then - the teams are lining back up in the tunnel. Germany out early, the wisdom of Jogi Low ringing in their ears no doubt.
Matthaus or Sammer would sort this lot out. Germany have such a strong squad but it's also very unbalanced, they have no real quality at full-back and only one out-and-out striker. You can't all play at number 10...
Bibhash Dash:, external Is Manuel Neuer available for a transfer? Manchester United need a centre-back who can also play on the flanks.
Sola Akingbola:, external Great football from Algeria. Pace, strength and intelligent movement. A little concerned about their missed chances.
G Robertson:, external Germany need a Lothar Matthaus to break things up and control the pace. Bet he's still faster than Per Mertesacker!
Chelsea speedster Andre Schurrle is out warming up during the break. There's one change to keep an eye on.
Ross Boddy:, external Manuel Neuer is doing his best Jens Lehmann impersonation tonight.
Richie Cunningham:, external I hope Joachim Low gives Germany a rollicking at half time and they thump them 4-0. C'mon!
ApSam:, external Looking at this German performance and final group standings, Pepe single-handedly sunk Portugal's hopes.

"I've been impressed by Algeria for the way they started the game, with good shape and counter attacking on the break. They could have scored two or three goals.
"Germany have been playing too slow and have big problems with the full-backs. The two full-backs are limited on the ball - they are willing and honest - but not clever enough with their runs.
"Credit to Algeria - but they tend to come off the pace in the second half of most games."
The Algeria v Costa Rica final is still on then.
Germany must get better. Miroslav Klose may get his chance to break that record after all.
BBC Sport's David Ornstein at Estadio Beira-Rio
"A mixed reaction from a fairly muted crowd as Brazilian referee Sandro Ricci sounds his whistle. The Germany players and coaching staff look far from happy with that 45 minutes and rightly so. Algeria should have been in front and will, at the very least, have given the three-time champions a wake-up call."
Guy Mowbray
BBC Match of the Day commentator
"Towards the end of the first half Germany forced two good saves from Rais Mbolhi. After a great start the worrying thing for Algeria is that Germany can only get better. Algeria might rue their own missed opportunities."
Manuel Neuer. Half goalkeeper, half sweeper. Look how far out he's touched the ball!
