    Newcastle manager Alan Pardew believes Brazil will beat Germany on Tuesday night, even without the injured Neymar and the suspended Thiago Silva.

    This will be only the second meeting between these two nations at the World Cup.

    There are more than 48 hours to go until the first semi-final of the World Cup, but that doesn't mean we can't start chatting about it.

    Brazil will host Germany on Tuesday at 21:00 BST and with Neymar unavailable for Brazil because of injury, the Germans are many people's favourites.

    But the five-time winners have advanced to the final in each of their last six World Cup semi-final appearances, so we should perhaps not start writing them off now.

    Former Liverpool, Aston Villa and England striker Stan Collymore says he "dreams of a day" when England players care enough to cry.

    Southampton centre-back Dejan Lovren says he wants to move to Liverpool, who offered £20m for the 25-year-old Croatia defender earlier this week.

    The bid was rejected but Lovren said his "head is already at Liverpool".

    Saints have seen Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw, plus coach Mauricio Pochettino, leave this summer.

    "Look, I'd gladly stay in Southampton if the club had any ambitions, if they kept the key players," Lovren told Croatia paper Sportske Novosti.

    The host nation, who will be without their talismanic striker Neymar, face Germany at 21:00 BST on Tuesday in Belo Horizonte.

    Former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole is set to move abroad but has not agreed terms with Roma, says his agent.

    The 33-year-old is a free agent having not been offered a new Stamford Bridge contract and has been linked with a lucrative move to the Italian club.
