Garreth Frank:, external I love how Bony went to grab the ball before realising that it was ok and he was allowed to celebrate.

ChelseaWarrior:, external Fine interplay between Bony and Gervinho for that goal. Cat among the pigeons?

Titus Kyalo Kiseu:, external Bony is such a fine striker, I just love his composure.

  2. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 22:40 British Summer Time 24 June 2014

Ivory Coast captain Didier Drogba comes off for Saint-Etienne midfielder Ismael Diomande as Sabri Lamouchi looks to try and contain Greece now. Drogba did not have the impact Ivory Coast will have hoped for but, at the moment, it is job done as far as the African side are concerned.

"The Ivory Coast cut Greece open very easily. Gervinho has been a danger all game long, this time he got himself in space, a pass and it was a confident finish from Bony."

Wilfried Bony's goal means Ivory Coast jump back into second place. It is they and Colombia who are into the knockout stage as it stands.

"Absolutely superb from Ivory Coast. If you give Wilfried Bony a chance like that he will take it. It was a great move, Gervinho played it into Bony's path and he passed it into the back of the net. Simple, but effective."

Fine margins. That is all it is. Ivory Coast looked like for a long time they had nothing to offer in reply to Greece's opener but suddenly they are level as Gervinho is played onside and he puts the ball into the path of Wilfried Bony. The Swansea man, cool as you like, simply passes the ball into the net. What a finish we have on our hands now.

Japan are pushing men forward but it is leaving them exposed at the back. Colombia break forward and win a corner but Fredy Guarin's set-piece is headed away.

Eddie Rolls:, external Ivory Coast have seemed disinterested most all of the match; Greeks to go through because they want it more!

Chris Gilbert:, external All this talk about defensive, boring Greece and yet they've hit the bar twice and continue to test Barry.

Georgios Karagounis may be 37, but he has plenty of power and energy in those ageing legs. He spots an opportunity to have a crack at goal from more than 25 yards and he is inches away from increasing Greece's lead as his dipping effort smashes off the frame of the goal. Ivory Coast just don't seem to want this enough and time is running out.

Japan need two goals to have a chance of progressing and, to their credit, they are pushing hard at the moment. Keisuke Honda stings the hands of David Ospina with a rasping free-kick from long range, before Yoshito Okuba fires wide from close range.

Stephen Foster:, external Always sad to see a once great striker like Drogba look so poor. Time for a sharp exit me thinks.

Adam in Edinburgh on text: I know Ivory Coast aren't playing well but how can they with Greece having nine men behind the ball every time IC go forward!? They better not qualify and bring their absolute tedious brand of football through to the next round.

Despite that change it is Greece that look the most likely to extend their lead. Georgios Karagounis slams a free-kick from 25 yards into the Ivory Coast wall, before Vasileios Torosidis volleys the loose ball wide.

  15. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 22:21 British Summer Time 24 June 2014

Ivory Coast have to go for this and manager Sabri Lamouchi knows this. He brings on Swansea striker Wilfried Bony for Cheick Tiote. An attack-minded change.

Jose Pekerman, I doff my hat to you sir. That half-time change by the Colombia boss pays dividends as James Rodriguez clips a pass through the Japan backline to give Jackson Martinez a clear sight of goal. He gobbles up the chance with a low-angled shot into the corner. A big ask now for Japan to avoid going home early.
