A draw is good enough for Colombia but they don't want to take any chances. They made a double change at the break with Carlos Carbonero and James Rodriguez, one of the tournament's stand out players, brought on for Juan Quintero and Juan Cuadrado. Rodriguez makes himself known quickly with a shot from the edge of the area but it is deflected just wide.

Chris Gilbert:, external I know Greece are known for being boring and defensive but I haven't seen that this tournament. Vs Colombia they were exciting.

Ivory Coast are straight on the front foot as Didier Drogba unsettles sub keeper Panagiotis Glykos when he thumps his body into him when battling for a corner. Foul given. Soon after Cheick Tiote tries his luck from distance with a low effort but Glykos is down well to hold the ball.

A reminder that full match coverage is currently on Match of the Day Live on BBC One and online, with commentary from Simon Brotherton and Martin Keown.

Brotherton came face-to-face with a crocodile earlier today. Brave man. Still, probably less daunting than trying to seamlessly roll Socratis Papastathopoulos off the tongue...

Greece certainly have history in upsetting the odds. They, of course, won Euro 2004 and in the same tournament two years ago, they progressed to the knockout stage despite being in similar circumstances to the ones now.

They were bottom of their group, with one point from two games and needing a win in their final group fixture against Russia to progress. They got it, withstanding a barrage of pressure before Georgios Karagounis struck the winner.

Are they going to do it again?

So if the scores stay the same Colombia will go through as group winners with Greece now occupying the second position. This goal, by the way, is only their third in World Cup finals. It could prove to be their most crucial yet.

"Yaya Toure has been a bit flat, which you can understand with the death of his brother.

"But Ivory Coast need their big boys to come to the party. They are going out as it stands. They need him and he is the best they have got."

"It was a very bad mistake from Tiote that gave Greece their goal. Ivory Coast were cruising and now they find themselves in trouble."

Shane Long:, external Greece scoring first is worst thing that could have happened in #GREvsCIV Shop now shut and will remain that way. Good luck IVC.

Tokunbo:, external No way Cote d'Ivoire can come back. Woeful display.

"Ivory Coast have been so disappointing. Lacking invention and lacking pace. They have given nothing and Greece deserve to be ahead."

  16. HALF-TIMEpublished at 21:49 British Summer Time 24 June 2014

Japan certainly improved after Colombia's opener and a draw is a fair scoreline at the break. They still have plenty to do in the second half, however.

What a time to score! Colombia players evidently had their minds on a half-time drink but Japan stun them in first-half stoppage time. Keisuke Honda sends in a dangerous ball to the middle of the area and Shinji Okazaki flings his head at it to power beyond David Ospina. Game on.

Tottenham and former USA goalkeeper Brad Friedel

"Greece have only looked likely to score twice and both times were bad play by Ivory Coast. Needlessly the Ivory Coast gave the ball away. They have looked in very danger but now they have been undone by their own making.

"This now plays in Greece's hands but they can play a defensive game they are well used to"

Shocking stuff from Ivory Coast as they gift Greece an opener. Cheick Tiote gives the ball away inside his own half and substitute Andreas Samaris breaks towards goal. He plays a one-two with Georgios Samaras and rifles home from the edge of the area.

  20. Postpublished at 21:42 British Summer Time 24 June 2014

It rattled the crossbar, but that chance has also rattled Ivory Coast and they suddenly step up a gear and are seeing plenty of the ball. Salomon Kalou jinks his way towards the edge of the area and his teasing cross is hacked away by Jose Holebas. Arthur Boka picks up the loose ball and sends it back into the box, but Georgios Samaras deflects the ball behind.
