Lionel Messi was followed down the tunnel by a Fifa doping officer. If Messi was on stimulants tonight, he needs to raise the dose for Sunday...
Eight goals across the semi-finals, we would have taken that before kick-off last night.
But can this Argentina side stop Germany? They will have to raise their game.
Germany and Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski on Twitter:, external "Final Germany - Argentina. Like in 1990..."
There are a lot of tears in the Argentina end, with Ezequiel Lavezzi leading the dance from the players.
Nobody remembers how you win, just who wins.
"How does it feel to have your daddy here?" sing the Argentina fans. They are enjoying reaching the final of Brazil's World Cup...
Arjen Robben goes over to who I presume is his partner and child, with the kid in tears. Those Dutch supporters will look back on a good World Cup, and that shoeing of Spain in particular, once they get home. But they will have no fond memories of this evening at all.
Alex Haworth:, external You can see why Louis van Gaal put Tim Krul in goal for the shootout in the last round. Jasper Cillessen should have saved a couple there.
Former England international Chris Waddle, BBC Radio 5 live
"The keeper will be disappointed with that last one, that was the one he could have saved with stronger wrists. A poor game. It's been one of them games. A poor level for a semi-final of a World Cup. Let's hope the final is better.
"Argentina have had extra-time, more travelling, you've got to think it's there for Germany to win."
Alex, London: Defenders taking penalties has a history of failure. When will managers learn?
Lionel Messi is almost in tears as he sprints away to celebrate, the fans are in pieces away above the players too.
Louis van Gaal trudges on to the field and consoles his players.
They've done it!
A terrible game, if we are being honest, but that will all be forgotten as Argentina win through to the final to face Germany on Sunday evening.
The Netherlands face Brazil on Saturday for the dubious honour of third place.
Argentina are into the final.
Maxi Rodriguez puts his head down and his boot through the ball and smashes it past Jasper Cillessen.
Kuyt must score and he keeps his cool under immense pressure. If Argentina score next they're through to the final...
Low and hard. Cillessen should do better but he can't keep it out.
Match point Argentina.
What a save!
Romero flings himself full-length to his right and beats the ball away. Big trouble for the Dutch now.
You don't save those. That is absolutely belted down the middle. Great pen.
The Dutch are up and running, Robben sending it into the bottom right.
Never in doubt! Jasper Cillessen does a Tim Krul and has a word with the Argentina skipper but Messi strokes it into the bottom corner.
He's had a brilliant game but that's not great from Vlaar. Romero dives down to his left and beats it away. Advantage Argentina. Messi up next...
Here we go then. Penalties...
