Ollie in London: Arsenal were supposed to have £100m to spend, have spent £30m net, and only have 6 defenders and 2 strikers on their first-team books. Now Wenger is managing a charity match in Rome on deadline day.

Arsenal have played appalling football, have had poor results, and every man and his dog knows the areas that need improving, yet we have seen nothing. Arsene has brought us through tough times, but now we are "through that period" he needs to start showing ambition again or leave.

Arsenal fans will not continue to pay the most expensive tickets in the league for a club aspiring for fourth place and the occasional domestic trophy.

"Notts County are hoping to bring in another player to strengthen their squad before tonight's transfer deadline. Mansfield boss Paul Cox is keen to add a striker to his squad, though that could be completed after tonight as the player in question is a free agent. The Stags' biggest deadline-day task may be to keep hold of prized forward Sam Clucas, subject of a bid from local rivals Chesterfield."

Luca in London: The LFC-Spurs comparisons will be inevitable this season but for me Man Utd look the more likely to "do a Spurs". Six big money first-teamers have come in only six months, whereas LFC have bought a squad. It will take time for all these players to gel under LvG.

"It's taking place at the Olympic Stadium this evening and I'm assured Wenger has his phone on him if he wishes to do any deals - as he did while on the beach in Rio earlier this summer and at a conference in Geneva on deadline day two years ago - but unfortunately for Arsenal fans that is unlikely."
