"England are nice and sharp and have looked good when they've switched the play. A few decent balls into the box too. Wilshere is playing well at the base of the diamond and Lallana's finding small pockets of space. But England do need to create chances at the end of all this good play."

The Estonia fans seem to be chanting 'Emile Heskey' which is a nice touch. Is the great man back in the international frame? He could do a job tonight as Leighton Baines floats a long ball in the direction of Wayne Rooney.

All-time record goalscorer elect Wayne Rooney, as he should now be known.

England put together a move with the fluency to rival Manchester City's Ladies as Adam Lallana and Calum Chambers exchange first-time passes to lead the Estonians on a merry dance across the edge of the box. Truly fine stuff, but no end product at the end of it. A free-kick is won and crossed, and Jordan Henderson has a shot well charged down.

"Estonia fans in good voice after that encouraging opening moment. All in their seats now although some were having trouble tearing themselves away from a sub-titled episode of "Downton Abbey" that was on television in one of the rooms backstage here at the stadium."

Calum Chambers didn't have the best of nights on Thursday but this is a promising start. The Arsenal defender whips in a lovely early cross, Danny Welbeck ghosts ahead of his marker to meet it but then forgets to make contact with the ball.

England have a corner though and Leighton Baines delivers - but it's well seen out at the back post.

With the talk of England going back on tour away from Wembley in 2018, perhaps they could relocate to Tallinn on a permanent basis?

It's a cracking atmosphere, and I'm sure the fans would be up for it. Everyone appears to be having a whale of a time. On the pitch, Calum Chambers gets forward for the first time but the ball slips out of play.

"Estonia's early corner had my heart in my mouth. England haven't got a good record when it comes to conceding goals from set-pieces."

  8. CLOSE!published at 17:02 British Summer Time 12 October 2014

Chance inside 40 seconds! Fabian Delph is levered off the ball in midfield, Estonia break with pace and purpose and Blackpool midfielder Sergei Zenjov sees his shot deflected into the side-netting. From the corner Henri Anier blasts over the top.

  9. KICK-OFFpublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 12 October 2014

Game on at Le Coq Arena. For those of you reading in black and white, England are in red shirts, white shorts and red socks. And multi-coloured silly boots.

Not to be outdone though, a tattooed gentleman leads the home fans through a stirring rendition of 'Mu isamaa, mu õnn ja rõõm.'

That's "My Fatherland, My Happiness and Joy" as you well know. Favourite lyric?

"You have given me birth And raised me up; I shall thank you always."

    Very polite stuff.

Great anthem singing from the away fans in Tallinn, they are all in stag do voice for sure. That was as good a reception as an England side has received in a long, long time.

Eleven thousand fans are packed into the Le Coq Arena, it's a decent atmosphere as Joe Hart stirs up the troops in the tunnel.

"We're going to get some chances, let's take them lads!" he says. Or words to that effect anyway.

Dan in Kent: Really like the look of the England midfield. It's not supremely gifted or inspiring, but I think it will be balanced and I expect full-backs and Adam Lallana to benefit massively.

Rici from Exeter: Why isn't Andros Townsend starting? Clearly he injects pace into the side when he is on the pitch and is a threatening outlet. Baffling!

Jack: It's great to see Fabian Delph being given a chance in the England team. I Hope his Villa team-mate Ashley Westwood will be joining him soon.

England manager Roy Hodgson: "We trained yesterday and Raheem Sterling was complaining about feeling tired so there's no point risking him. It was a simple decision to rest him for this game and use him as a substitute.

"Adam Lallana interprets the role very well. He can score goals. We can't allow them time to settle."

Estonia have a familiar face to some in their side tonight, as Blackpool midfielder Sergei Zenjov wins his 37th cap.

Zenjov was one of the first signings made by the Seasiders during the summer but has yet to score for the club.

Jermaine Jenas was - I think - the first goalscorer of the Fabio Capello regime. There are 11 members of the current squad aged 25 or under. Not quite a golden generation, but maybe a copper one.

We are 15 minutes away from kick-off in Tallinn.

"It's tough to be a new player coming into the England setup. You're constantly trying to impress, and out on the pitch you sometimes have a slightly selfish attitude, wanting to make an impact on the game to make a good impression on your team-mates, the manager and the general public.

"But look at a team like Germany and their integration of new, young players. They don't chuck in a lad where he's slightly unsure of his role within the team."

BBC Sport Chief Football Writer Phil McNulty in Tallinn

"England's players are out warming up as the loud Euro rock that has blared away for the last 90 minutes continues to reverberate around La Coq Arena. It promises to be an atmospheric night with small but steep stands very close to the pitch. In fact so close there is every chance some noisy Estonia fans will be right in England manager Roy Hodgson's ear in his covered dug-out.

"The visiting fans were travelling out of London's Heathrow Airport in big numbers very early yesterday to join the Tallinn experience - and England will be very well backed in here tonight."

Raheem Sterling's omission is an interesting talking point in Tallinn, but BBC Radio 5 live's chief football correspondent John Murray says that Sterling himself had suggested that he is not at 100% after recent games with club and country.

Sterling's loss is a chance for Adam Lallana though.
