  2. CLOSE!published at 16:29 British Summer Time 21 September 2014

Josh:, external Diego Costa should target Eliaquim Mangala if he wants any joy. Vincent Kompany is not just a great defender, but a smart man too. Won't be wound up!

Ross Bentley:, external A Branislav Ivanovic v Aleksandar Kolarov cage fight is something I would pay to see...

Crystal Palace pressing up and pinning back Everton now, they are certainly more competitive than in the opening 10 minutes. Compared to the fun with the Foxes earlier it's all a bit flat though.

"It's an intriguing game, no doubt. It has been very physical, more than any other game this weekend in the Premier League I would say. But not a great deal has happened, which of course suits Chelsea at the moment."

Cesc Fabregas has made 15 passes for Chelsea so far. The next most is six. He's like the rug in Jeff Lebowski's lounge. He ties it all together man.

BBC Sport Chief Football Writer Phil McNulty at the Etihad

"Diego Costa has been busier with his defensive duties rather than attacking as Manchester City make a very bright start - with James Milner busy and influential early on. City captain Vincent Kompany has already made his presence felt on the striker with a tough but legitimate challenge. We already know Costa is up for a scrap but City may just want to test out that combustible temperament."

"Man City are camped in Chelsea's half without really creating too many opportunities. But apart form a Willian cross the ball has not been in the City penalty area at all."

Palace back on a more even keel in the last few minutes but they can't find any quality in the final third just yet, Yannick Bolasie slamming a cross out of play on the stretch.

Binaya Basyal:, external Chelsea seem to be set up to defend, when are they turning up?

  13. YELLOW CARDpublished at 16:18 British Summer Time 21 September 2014

Fernandinho is booked for a lunge in midfield and moments later has another go, treading a fine line. And then a great tussle between Diego Costa and Vincent Kompany, heavyweight Greco-Roman stuff, and it ends with a nice polite handshake between the two. They enjoyed that.

Everton in a different gear to Palace so far, and Romelu Lukaku could have made it 2-0 with a miscued volley at the near post, Everton are able to whip it back in and Samuel Eto'o also scuffs his shot wide. Roberto Martinez's side looking very slick.

  15. Postpublished at 16:13 British Summer Time 21 September 2014

Sergio Aguero is back up on his feet, he seems to be moving OK too. Scare averted. Manchester City continue to dominate the ball but Chelsea are notoriously difficult to break down.

Paul Moore:, external I think this has a 1-0 Chelsea smash and grab all over it!

Chris Sainsbury:, external James Milner is the most underestimated footballer in the top flight. Massive player.

  17. Postpublished at 16:12 British Summer Time 21 September 2014

Sergio Aguero goes down in an innocuous looking challenge with John Terry and looks in trouble, while Willian is also felled and needs some treatment. Worrying for City fans here.

Christian Atsu was closed down before he could get a shot away, but moments later Romelu Lukaku does not give the Palace defence a chance. Again Leon Osman plays the key pass, a clever turn around the corner, and Lukaku is in. He takes it away from the defence and clinically slides into the net from 16 yards. Up and running.

Lovely move from Everton, who should perhaps be ahead. Leon Osman slides a perfectly-weighted pass in behind and Christian Atsu is closed down.
