Maribor 1-1 Celtic

Celtic can be content with the first 45 minutes. Callum McGregor supplied an early goal and although Maribor found a cheap equaliser the visitors have been comfortable in possession and really should be ahead - if only Stefan Johansen hadn't got in the way of Virgil van Dijk's header.

A wee scare for Celtic keeper Craig Gordon as he misjudges a clearing punch but he is alert enough to smother the loose ball and can afford to have a smile as he composes himself on the turf.

Incredible! From Celtic's sixth corner, Virgil van Dijk beats goalkeeper Jasmin Handanovic to Anthony Stokes's delivery and powers a header in from close range. It's a goal all the way until it hits the face of team-mate Stefan Johansen standing on the goal-line. Just to add salt to the wound, an offside decision goes against the Norwegian.

Callum McGregor's sixth-minute opener gives Celtic a potentially crucial away goal. That's his fourth goal of the season.

The Maribor full-backs want in on the action now as Stojanovic storms in from the right and powers in a shot that is parried away by Craig Gordon.

The Celtic full-backs are really bombing forward and this time it's Mikael Lustig earning a corner from another enterprising burst into enemy territory.

Celtic captain Charlie Mulgrew meets a Stefan Johansen corner at the back post and his header is cleared from under the crossbar by Filipovic.

A patient passing phase from Celtic is followed by a powerful surge from Emilio Izaguirre and it needs a good sliding interception from defender Suler to make sure Anthony Stokes does not connect with the full-back's delivery.

"Virgil van Dijk is perhaps fortunate the referee allowed the advantage there because he could have been off for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity. As it is, the news still isn't great for Celtic as they lose their early lead, just as they did in Warsaw. They need to regain their composure, which they didn't do in Poland."

Maribor 1-1 Celtic (Bohar)

The Celtic defence is split wide open as Damjan Bohar calmly slots past Craig Gordon after latching on to a Zelijko Filipovic through ball. Marcos Tavares was sent tumbling by a challenge from Virgil van Dijk but that did not distract his team-mate.

Mikael Lustig marauds forward from right-back and works a low pass to Anthony Stokes in the penalty box but the striker can't quite get hold of the ball and is soon crowded out by a cluster of purple shirts.

Maribor look rattled by that early goal and are giving the ball away cheaply in midfield as Celtic press sharply and snap into tackles.
