Andy from Cumbernauld: "Commons is largely out of his depth at this level. Rather like Kris Boyd in his pomp, he can be unplayable at domestic level but when there's a step up? Nobody could point to any performance he put in wearing a Scotland top and say we're missing him during his self-imposed exile at all. He needs time on the ball and to be in a dominant team that has a monopoly of play. In games at this level, or in games where the opposition is technically superior or technically on par, he just isn't effective."

"We've got Czech officials this evening. Pavel Kralovec is the referee and ironically enough he was the referee exactly a year ago in Kazakhstan when Celtic played Shakhter Karagandy."

Defender Efe Ambrose, who is on the bench, was a late arrival in Slovenia, with Celtic unsure of his eligibility. The Nigerian did not travel with the rest of the squad but was sent for when it was established that his ban for a red card against Legia in Poland was served in the return leg, although the result was overturned.

Scott Brown, James Forrest and Adam Matthews are on the visitors' injured list and a deal to sign Ghana winger Wakaso Mubarak was not completed before last night's transfer deadline.

"It's a gloomy sky over the Stadion Ljudski vrt, with rain falling almost incessantly throughout the day. That will certainly make for a slick surface, which should help Celtic move the ball quickly but their opponents are, by all accounts, a good passing team as well, so it will suit them too. Ronny Deila looks to have gone for a more solid approach than against Legia Warsaw, with Kris Commons being sacrificed for Beram Kayal. He did say lessons have been learned from the Legia games."

The big news is that playmaker Kris Commons is not included in the Celtic starting line-up, with Beram Kayal coming in to beef up the midfield.

Legia pleaded their case to Uefa and the Court of Arbitration for Sport to no avail and relieved Celtic fans were raising a quiet glass to incompetent Polish football administrators.

Now Maribor stand in Celtic's way...

"Great Escape?" asks the one person who has been living in a cave in darkest Peru since Celtic were well and truly skelped in the previous round. Well, Legia Warsaw may have been 6-1 winners on aggregate but Uefa punished them for fielding a suspended player in the closing minutes of the second leg.

It meant the Poles' 2-0 victory in Scotland was overturned to 3-0 in Celtic's favour and the Scottish champions were through on away goals.
