"The former Celtic manager Neil Lennon used to describe this match - the second leg of the Champions League play-off - as the biggest game of the season and it's a sentiment that makes sense.

"The financial boost from qualifying for the group stage is massive - £14m or thereabouts for Celtic last year. Just as importantly, it keeps a level of excitement around the Scottish game that the domestic scene just can't match."

Should Celtic lose on aggregate, away goals or penalties this evening, they will drop directly into the Europa League group stage, the draw for which takes place on Friday.

Should Celtic progress tonight, they will go into Thursday's draw for the group stage of the Champions League, and will be seeded in pot four.

There's no sequence of results in tonight or tomorrow's qualifiers that could move them up to third seeds.

All of tonight's Scottish League Cup matches must be played to a finish, meaning there could be extra-time and penalties.

The draw for the third round will be tomorrow at 13:00 BST and will take place at Pittodrie stadium, where the trophy currently resides following Aberdeen's penalty shoot-out win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle in March's final.

There are also 11 Scottish League Cup games this evening, with the pick of the bunch the Ayrshire derby at Rugby Park.

One of the ties is a first-round match, a Glasgow derby taking place in Airdrie where Queen's Park play Rangers. The winner of that tie will host Inverness Caledonian Thistle in round two.

Ales Merteij comes in to the NK Maribor line-up along with Jean-Philippe Mendy but last week's scorer Damjan Bohar does not make the starting line-up.
