Gylfi Sigurdsson has looked bright and clever for Swansea and the Icelander is a only a couple of inches of hamstring stretch away from dragging down a floated throughball as he bombs on past Wilfried Bony.

"Steven Fletcher is capable of that. He has that ability in the air and there was not too much the Stoke defence could have done - you just have to hold your hands up sometimes. But Stoke are going at Sunderland again. I think there will be a few more goals in this one."

Are there any local school fairs or village fetes where Mario Balotelli can pass the time until he gets the nod from Brendan Rodgers? Liverpool look fairly limited in attack at the moment, while the Baggies seem to have an assured confidence about themselves whenever they are on the ball.

"Questions start to be asked of a manager when a team starts to perform like Newcastle are. At Southampton they were terrible and today the goal they have conceded is just basic errors. It was far too easy for Swansea to get the goal they did."

Swansea's opener has prompted some of the Newcastle fans to fish their Pardew Out signs from their pockets.

It is a bit like the final vote on Ready Steady Cook in the away end. Red Tomatoes or Green Peppers?

We have an early contender for the top three on the Match of the Day running order. Sunderland retake the lead when Steven Fletcher buries a header from Jordi Gomez's cross at a short corner.

It is pretty even stuff at the KC but the pace of Palace out wide, through Jason Puncheon and Yannick Bolassie, looks like it might be the key to break the deadlock.

Only two goals to tell you about in the second-tier as the clock ticks past the 15-minute mark. Mid-table Brentford lead Reading through Spanish attacking midfielder Jota's strike and across London at the Valley, Igor Vetokele has put hosts Charlton ahead against Birmingham.

Neil Barry:, external I'm a Liverpool fan living in South Shields and really feel for the Toon fans. The way the club is being run is a disgrace.

Kemlo:, external Newcastle really need to change something, whether it's the manager or the owner or both... they simply can't keep losing.

Blue moon in my eyes:, external Mario Balotelli. Provider of probably the most important assist in Man City's history. So always a legend for me.

"West Brom are just starting to feel their way into the game. Liverpool need a goal because the longer they go the more the fans will start to get on their back. When you are at a big club, you need to be a big player and deal with the pressure and the expectation of fans."

Bright start by Leicester. Clarets goalkeeper Tom Heaton saves easily from Danny Drinkwater's tame shot before Jamie Vardy's ambitious effort cannons off Ben Mee and behind for a corner. Then a great save from Heaton low to his left denies Riyad Mahrez.

Up at the other end, Burnley's goal drought showing little sign of ending anytime soon.

Simple stuff from Liverpool almost unlocks West Brom. Martin Skrtel drills a ball down the channel and Rickie Lambert gets in behind the Baggies defence but Ben Foster races off his line to make a fine save.

The towns of Stevenage and Luton are separated by just 15 miles and their football teams are just a point apart in the League Two table. But it is the Hatters who have taken an early lead thanks to Luke Wilkinson's opener.

There's another rivalry (of sorts) as the Shrimpers host the Shrimps in the Crustacean derby (sorry). Southend are trailing to visitors Morecambe, who netted an early goal through Jack Redshaw.

Elsewhere, Cheltenham and Accrington hold early advantages against Wimbledon and Mansfield respectively.

    Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown
    Final Score

"There is no way Charlie Adam gets a goal from me there. We know the quality Adam has scoring from distance and you know you have to give nothing away. You have to close him down with with urgency and with John O'Shea's experience, that shouldn't be happening. A soft goal to concede."

Swansea-lona stuff. Wilfried Bony lays the ball off to Gylfi Sigurdsson, spins and scampers into space. The return pass from the Icelander is precise, Newcastle's centre-backs react too slowly and Bony slips a simple side-foot finish past Tim Krul.

"Sacked in the morning" is quickly followed by a chorus of "Pardew for England" from the home fans.

"I think (Liverpool manager) Brendan Rodgers will be quite happy with the start his side have made. They have looked good and their passing has been sharp. They have also tested the goalkeeper early on."

Gylfi Sigurdsson and Jonjo Shelvey are starting to make the midfield their own at the Liberty Stadium. Newcastle need the likes of Jack Colback to get a foot in.

A superb response to going behind from Stoke - Victor Moses playing in Charlie Adam, who had plenty to do as he fashioned room for a shot which eventually went through the legs of John O'Shea and into the back of the net.
