Katy: It's easy to forget sometimes that the excitement of the FA cup starts long before the third round. Warrington Town - hold your heads high, what a fabulous result.

So, Craig Robinson has been struggling with injury all week? I'd love to see him when he's fully fit. He was an absolute warrior tonight. If he saw it, he kicked it. If it came his way, he booted it. If it didn't come anywhere near him, he donned a cape and cleared it. He scored too.

It's pandemonium now. Half of Warrington invades the pitch, the other half dances in front of their TV sets. One supporter even gets himself a souvenir - an FA Cup advertising hoarding. That'll look good next to the water feature.

Magic.

Hoof. Headed clear. Deflected cross, gathered by the keeper. Tense.

Exeter pump the ball forward and Craig Robinson, who might as well be wearing a cape, appears from nowhere to head clear.

Craig Woodman hoofs the ball forward but it goes out for a goal-kick. Shaun Reid prowls the touchline like a caged animal. Almost there.

INJURY TIME

Steve Foster comes on for Ben Wharton as Warrington try and use up some time. We're into injury time. Four minutes to go...

Corner comes into the box, a header is powered towards goal, spilled by the keeper and hacked clear. Agricultural.

Time to pump the ball forward for Exeter. Corner.

Another Exeter chance is cleared off the line. Again Liam Sercombe gets a cross in and Jimmy Keohane turns the ball goalwards from six yards out but James McCarten is there to clear the ball from danger. Exeter's players are going to be seeing flashes of yellow before their eyes for the next three days.

Callum McManaman pulls one back for Wigan Athletic at the Macron Stadium to cut Bolton's lead to two goals. In all reality though it's nothing but a consolation goal for the Latics as they've been poor at best in this second half. Uwe Rosler cuts a frustrated figure on the touchline, he knows his side have blown it this evening.

The goal opens up for Jimmy Keohane but his shot is parried by Karl Wills before the follow-up is blocked by more diving bodies. The Town defenders are diving in front of everything now. Bodies on the line etc.

It's proper muck and nettles stuff now - Matt Grimes taking a shot and Craig Robinson appearing from nowhere to get a crucial deflection on the strike. Now the skipper's down hurt. These Warrington lads will wake up tomorrow morning thinking they've done 12 rounds with Mike Tyson.

The whole town of Warrington goes silent for one awkward split-second when Matt Grimes sees his shot deflect off the goalkeeper but cleared off the line by Phil Davies. That's worth a pint in the social club later.

Craig Davies met Liam Feeney's cross to power a header past Scott Carson, Rosler has responded by throwing on James McClean and Chris McCann for Wigan but is it too little too late?

Max Clayton breaks the deadlock for Bolton at The Macron - a through ball that beat Wigan's off-side trap and it was a simple finish for the former Crewe striker. Is the pressure building on Wigan manager Uwe Rosler?

Warrington make the first change of the game by bringing on Phil Davies in place of a limping Matt Doughty.

Davies, a fencer by trade, has been described as "hard-working, tough-tackling...and a snappy dresser" by his skipper David Mannix. He'll need at least two of those attributes tonight.

Warrington's Nathan Burke drives forward and unleashes a low shot which is easily saved by Exeter keeper Christy Pym.

Exeter's flair players are starting to boss things now - Warrington's long punts clear being used as ammunition to launch another attack by the visitors. This time Liam Sercombe takes a pot shot from 18 yards which is tipped over.

The Exeter players - and Robbie Savage on BBC Two - are in disbelief when Warrington's Lewis Field gets away with a studs-up reducer on David Noble without as much as a yellow card. Lucky boy.

Robbie's right... Exeter look to have more about them and a cross comes in from the right which is cleared for a corner. That comes to nothing but the visitors' intentions are clear. There might be hundreds of spectators crammed into Cantilever Park but Town manager Shaun Reid's Scouse tones can still be heard bellowing from the dug-out.

It's half-time in Horwich with local rivals Bolton and Wigan going in level, both sides will believe they should be leading at the half-way point. Wigan finished the half with a flurry of chances from Callum McManaman, Roger Espinoza and Marc Antoine Fortune whilst Bolton had grown in to the game after a quiet start. Exhilarating end to end stuff - lets hope for more of the same in the second half.

In the Championship it's still honours even in the game dubbed 'Th'el Clasico' by the local press, Wigan started the brighter of the two sides with Callum McManaman going close with a swerving shot that hit the top of the bar in the opening stages. But Neil Lennon's Bolton side have come back into it with chances through with Craig Davies and Max Clayton going close.

The stadium is just as fascinating as the match tonight. Behind one goal are a row of portaloos, standing in front of a five-a-side pitch. And down one side, behind the standing supporters, there is a burger van which apparently also sells curries and a detached house-like building from which spectators peer down at the action from a balcony.

Matt Grimes takes the free-kick, but it's straight into the wall and deflected for a corner. Which comes to nothing.

PENALTY APPEAL

Muted appeals for Exeter when Warrington defender Matt Doughty slides through the back of David Wheeler in the penalty box. It looked a risky challenge, but the Yellows get away with it. Replays show the referee made the right decision as Wheeler went down after kicking Doughty's foot in the area.

Incidentally, Exeter certainly know what it's like to be on the wrong end of a giantkilling having been knocked out by Curzon Ashton, who played at the same level as Warrington, in the first round in 2008.

However, it's not that long ago they took Manchester United to a replay, in January 2005. In that replay, Grecians defender Scott Hiley nutmegged Cristiano Ronaldo. One now runs a B&B just outsider Exeter. The other is one of the best players in the world.

"I have been banging on to the players that this happens once in a lifetime, grasp it and go and enjoy it. This is the best club competition in the world.

"The aim is the Football League for us and the amount of people here tonight shows what a big club this is."

There are exactly 100 places between these two sides in the league pyramid. Warrington are managed by Peter Reid's brother Shaun, who is confident of causing a cupset.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Reid said: "Since the draw was made, my feet haven't really touched the ground. I'll be glad when we get to Friday and we can do what we're in it to do, which is play a football match.

"I can't even begin to explain what it's meant to the football club. It's the most amazing cup competition ever."

BBC Radio Devon sports presenter James Vickery is as well placed as anybody to give us the lowdown on Exeter: "A PFA loan, a transfer embargo and a lengthy injury list made it a pretty tough start to the season for Exeter City. The Grecians really struggled to get started, with their first victory coming in mid-September at Cambridge.

"That victory seemed to be the catalyst for an improved run of form with Paul Tisdale's side winning five of their last eight league matches - a run of results which has seen them climb off the foot of League Two up to a more comfortable mid-table position.

"City take pride in playing a delicate passing game with goals normally scored from patient build-up play. Striker Tom Nichols will be one to watch - the 21-year-old has scored twice in the last two games after coming on as a sub. Exeter-born midfielder Liam Sercombe is also a real force going forward. He has a real knack of creating chances out of nothing and is never afraid to launch a shot at goal from distance."

The man who links Exeter with Warrington

So, is there any history between these two clubs? You might think not... but actually there is. And it's a great tale, too.

It centres around Sam Strettle... remember him? I'm impressed if you do because he was born in Warrington in 1885 before signing for Exeter City in 1913 having spent time on the books of Everton and Chesterfield.

In fact, Strettle was a bit of a footballing pioneer because he was part of the Exeter squad which toured South America in 1914 and who were the opponents for Brazil's first ever game of football. He played in defence against the Samba Boys but could not prevent a 2-0 defeat. Later in his career, he returned to play local football in Warrington.

So, when the Warrington Town players pop up on your television screen tonight, will you know any of them? If you live in the area, you might have bumped into defender Louis Corrigan, who is a salesman and, according to his skipper David Mannix "is always up for a night out".

Then there's defender James McCarten who, when not cleaning windows, is a catalogue model. Finally, there's Conor Roberts who, so says Mannix, "would run through brick walls if you asked him". He's also good at fixing ceilings.

Neil Lennon has helped the mood lift slightly since replacing Dougie Freedman as Bolton boss a few weeks ago.

The Trotters have won three out of five since the former Celtic boss's appointment, having previously only won one of their first 11 Championship matches.

Uwe Rosler's Wigan on the other hand are going into the match on a miserable run of form. They have won only one of their last 11 games and their only win since August was 2-1 at Derby on 25 October.

The FA Cup may be taking centre stage this weekend, but there are plenty of big matches going on in England's top two leagues as well.

Starting with a tasty-looking north west derby between Bolton and Wigan at the Macron Stadium this evening, a match we will be keeping you up to date with.

Warrington Wolves rugby league team, based just two miles away, have been offering their support to their football-playing neighbours.

On that very subject, Warrington Town goalkeeper Karl Wills could not confirm that he would be free tonight until Wednesday. Wills works as a web developer in Manchester and faced a last-minute dash straight from his job to the televised showdown before receiving the news he and Warrington manager Shaun Reid wanted to hear.

"I had to put in a holiday request this week and if it hadn't been granted I would have had to work until 5pm on Friday and rush straight over to the ground in time for kick-off," said Wills.
