    FA Cup on the BBC

It's to do with the smell of freshly cut grass, the whiff of pies and the scent of sweat.

Then there's the cold winter nights, the sight of your breath in front of you and the muck and nettles which the players plough through.

The scarves keep you warm while the glare of the floodlights shine a spotlight on the 22 men who shoulder the hope, expectation and dreams of those watching on.

Giants are slayed, the underdog has his day, random men become immortalised.

Welcome to the early rounds of the FA Cup, ladies and gentlemen.
