Chris Harvey:, external I maintain that Southampton last season was Nigel Adkins' team, not Mauricio Pochettino's. He's far from got me convinced.

Kurt Booth:, external You have to hand it to Alan Pardew, managing to keep grinding away results as the media and naysayers try to unsettle him.

Jack McLeod:, external Draw or lose this game no one can argue that Pardew has installed a never say die attitude into this team. Fair play to him.

Burnley need a lift as we tick past 70 minutes.

Everton are moving the ball around them in midfield, starving the hosts of the ball.

Tottenham almost have a freakish equaliser, but their celebrations are stopped short by the linesman's flag.

A swirling corner from Christian Eriksen has actually curled out of play before swooping back into the fray and deflecting in off Tim Krul as the Newcastle goalkeeper attempted to gather.

Newcastle are close to a third as Remy Cabella straps on his dancing shoes, jigs past Younes Kaboul and Etienne Capoue before burying his effort into the wrong side of the side netting.

Matt Blazey:, external 'You do the Ameobi and you turn around, that's what it's all about.'

Dax Fullbrook:, external Spurs are a mess. Still a mess from last season. No-one wants it. Can't string passes together, and if we do, no-one can shoot.

Jay:, external If Mike Ashley is half as fickle as most football fans, expect a deal extension for Alan Pardew for back-to-back wins.

  12. Postpublished at 14:51 Greenwich Mean Time 26 October 2014

No such dramatic twists in the storyline at Turf Moor.

Burnley are keeping it cautious, hitting it long and early rather than stringing together too many passes, knowing another Everton goal could be curtains.

Samuel Eto'o's 20-yarder is not going to be decisive though, bobbling gently through to Tom Heaton.

Former England manager Graham Taylor at White Hart Lane
    BBC Radio 5 live

"You know we sometimes say that we know everything about football. No we don't. We don't know how matches are going to turn, or why. Obviously things have been said at half-time and now Newcastle have come back, when Spurs should have probably been 3-0 up at the break.

"Spurs now find themselves behind and the second half only just begun. We are seeing a totally different Newcastle side this half."

What a turnaround. Since the break and the introduction of Sammy Ameobi and Remy Cabella, Newcastle look a totally different proposition and they have smash-and-grabbed the lead.

Moussa Sissoko lays the ball left to Remy Cabella, who holds his run just enough to stay onside before supplying a swirling delivery to the back stick. Ayoze Perez, making his first Premier League start, gets up superbly to flick a deft header into the far corner.

White Hart Lane is stony silent apart from the pocket of away fans.

"You are almost thinking you are watching a different game now. Both sides are looking so threatening. Newcastle were not threatening at all in the first half, Spurs were but are looking even more so now, having been pegged back to 1-1."

BBC Sport chief football writer Phil McNulty at Old Trafford

"Simple message from Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal ahead of the meeting with Chelsea and his former assistant Jose Mourinho. He says in the programme: 'Jose and I may be friends but once inside the stadium we become fierce rivals preparing our teams to battle against each other.'

Van Gaal adds: 'Jose teams are always very well organised both defensively and in the attacking options and he introduces and ensures team discipline, which I also like.'

If Van Gaal wants to put down a marker that he is pointing United in the right direction, then victory here against the Premier League leaders would be the perfect time to do it.

Stavros Makrozachopo:, external I don't know if it's the fastest ever second half goal, but certainly is the fastest ever impact from a substitute.

John Roberts:, external Earlier this month Nacer Chadli was in great form, bossing the Spurs' midfield - now suddenly he's a waste of money? Fickle fans.

David McKean:, external For the lad who said Chadli was a waste of money (see 14:20), I would like to remind you that he is our top league goalscorer.
