  1. England Women set for Wembley recordpublished at 11:02 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2014

England Women are set to play in front of a larger Wembley crowd in a friendly against Germany on 23 November than watched Roy Hodgson's men tackle Norway at the national stadium.

The men's friendly against Norway on 3 September drew an attendance of just 40,181, the smallest Wembley crowd for a senior England game since the stadium was rebuilt.

The Football Association says ticket sales for the women's game on Friday were hovering just under 41,000 and could reach 50,000. I wonder if Roy will be there.

Former Liverpool, Leeds and England striker

"Petr Cech hasn't thrown his dummies out of the pram since Thibaut Courtois was made Chelsea number one and fair play to him for that. He's been true to himself. He deserves to be a number one goalkeeper but he also wants what is best for his current club.

"When I first got into the Liverpool side, Ian Rush was the master. He could have gone the other way and said he wasn't interested in helping me but he used to take me aside and talk me through games. He was brilliant towards me."

You can watch an interview with Courtois on the BBC Sport website with the full version to be aired on BBC Football Focus, which starts at 12:10 GMT on BBC One.

  4. QPR win anyone?published at 10:51 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2014

Chelsea are four points clear at the top of the Premier League and already have a look of champions about them. They face QPR in a west London derby today and there aren't many predicting other than a comfortable victory for the Stamford Bridge outfit.

QPR will have other ideas and they don't have too far to go back to remember their last win over the Blues. It was January 2013 and a certain Shaun Wright-Phillips got the winner.

Let's get back to today's action and on to one of the surprise packages of the season in West Ham.

There has been a team of people unsuccessfully trying to wipe the smile off Hammers boss Sam Allardyce's face. But who can blame Big Sam for being a Happy Hammer.

He would have been ejected out of the West Ham hot-seat if some of the Upton Park fans had had their way.

Now, they're not quite throwing roses into his path, but he's won a lot of them round with the style of football his side are playing and, most importantly, results.

The Hammers have beaten Liverpool this season and go into the Stoke game on the back of a win over champions Manchester City as they sit pretty in the top four.

BBC Sport's Chris Bevan, external will be at the Britannia today and wants to get the views of West Ham fans so say hello if you see him.

Craig Swanny Swanson:, external We used to use our bikes, only problem was when you were in goal and dived you used to hit the pedal.

Yanto Miklos Fulep:, external We discreetly borrowed some temporary boundary fencing from a five-a-side court they were in the process of building on the estate. The blocks that support the fence were too heavy so we discreetly borrowed two trolleys from our local supermarket to keep the fence upright and they acted as posts and the fence was the net. We hardly played on the five-a-side court when it was completed because our makeshift goals were the best.

  9. Man City on brink of crisispublished at 10:22 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2014

Man City manager Manuel PellegriniImage source, Getty Images

One of the big games this weekend in the Premier League takes place on Sunday with Manchester City taking on Manchester United.

BBC Sport pundit Robbie Savage says in his latest column that there could be doubts over City boss Manuel Pellegrini's future if results don't go his way.

"I am expecting Chelsea to beat QPR on Saturday and, if they do, City will go into Sunday's derby with Manchester United nine points behind Jose Mourinho's side," says Savage.

"After two defeats and a draw in their last three games, the defending Premier League champions will be under massive pressure to find some form, beat their neighbours and stay in touch at the top.

"If they don't get three points against United then, with their hopes of Champions League progress also in the balance, there could be serious questions asked about Pellegrini's future for the first time since he arrived in English football in the summer of 2013."

Craig, Maidenhead: At school we used the playground markings as posts. So if it 'hit' the post we'd have a 'post rebound'. The ball would be rolled back to the guy who took the shot. Incredible detail at such a young age.

Neil, Norwich: My dad was a milkman so we used milk crates as goal posts and cricket stumps.

Jake Robins, Birmingham: Used to cycle down to the local park and use our bikes as posts, painful when landed on!

In The Sun (subscription required),, external former Leyton Orient chairman Barry Hearn calls on London Mayor Boris Johnson to reveal the costs behind the Olympic Park Stadium and the terms of West Ham's lease on the venue.

"It's time for Boris to come off the fence and let us know where our money has gone and what the deal is."

Amid rumours the Hammers will pay £2m-a-year in rent Hearns adds: "For a Premier League club that is a minimal rent, especially with the stadium authority paying for the stewarding, police costs, stadium and pitch maintenance if the rumours are to be believed. So effectively West Ham are getting a freebie."

  14. Could Gerrard leave Liverpool?published at 09:53 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2014

    Robbie Fowler
Former Liverpool, Leeds and England striker

"If Steven said it, we'll take it on board. Speaking from a selfish point of view, I love Steven Gerrard and I'd love him to stay at Liverpool.

"It's like Ryan Giggs at Manchester United - players come into the club and are instantly lifted by seeing Gerrard. He might not be as good as he used to be - like Giggs - but he's still a class act.

"The common consensus is that he will go abroad if he did leave Anfield, but if he did become available I think clubs in the Premier League would want him. He's still that good a player."

Is the unthinkable going to happen for Liverpool fans? Reds skipper Steven Gerrard could be on his way out of Anfield after revealing he could join another club if he is not offered a new contract.

The 34-year-old has been at Liverpool since joining the club's youth academy at the age of nine. He has ruled out the possibility of retirement when his current deal expires in May.

"I won't be retiring this summer. I will play beyond this season," says Gerrard. "We will have to wait and see if that's at Liverpool or somewhere else. That's Liverpool's decision."
