  1. Post update

So, Bournemouth, Sheffield United, Chelsea, Derby and Liverpool are all into the hat for the next round. We have three places remaining and they will be decided tomorrow. Manchester City host Newcastle, Southampton head to Stoke and Tottenham welcome Brighton to the Lane. Plenty to look forward to, then.

Thanks for your company tonight - it's always a pleasure. Night.

Simon Hancock: Another awful refereeing decision against Swansea. Not even a foul, never mind a red card. Looking at the replays, Fernandez kicks the ball with his instep while the Liverpool player has his studs up.

  3. Manager reaction

    Bournemouth 2-1 West Brom

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe on BBC Radio 5 live: "We are going to enjoy these moments. It's my job to keep everyone's feet on the ground and make these days a regular occurrence. A couple of bad results and things can change quickly, we'll just keep our focus where it needs to be."

    Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe
  4. Post update

    Shrewsbury 1-2 Chelsea

I wonder what was said when Micky met Jose. Didn't Mourinho once hand over a scouting dossier he had done on a lower league side after an FA Cup tie? I think it was to the then Scunthorpe manager, if memory serves me right.

  5. Manager reaction

    Shrewsbury 1-2 Chelsea

Shrewsbury manager Micky Mellon BBC Radio 5 live: "The lads are disappointed. And that's an unbelievable moment to have considering we are playing against Chelsea.

"I could see it going to extra time because they couldn't break us down. We were relatively comfortable, holding a bit of a threat on the counter attack. To lose the goal we did was a bit disappointing. I had a good chat with Jose Mourinho, he's a top man and a gentlemen."

  6. Manager reaction

    Shrewsbury 1-2 Chelsea

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho on BBC Radio 5 live: "I don't say relieved with the result. I am happy with my players' approach. You're playing a World Cup final, because that is what it is for Shrewsbury. Guys like Didier Drogba and Oscar show great professionalism. My team were an example of that.

"We knew that they were a good team. Shrewsbury's results were not occasional and they showed that against us. I think the referee was very good for them, in the sense he let them play the way they wanted to play pushing and pulling people, using their strength. For me they did very well. "

One Direction's Niall Horan: Congrats lads! Was great to be there and witness that performance especially 2nd half ! I mean 5 goals in 20 odd mins! Wow.

  9. Post update

Is this one of the best weeks in Bournemouth's history? First they go and put eight past Birmingham, then they reach unchartered territory in the League Cup by knocking out a Premier League side. A club on the march.

  10. Player reaction

    Bournemouth 2-1 West Brom

Bournemouth's Callum Wilson on BBC Radio 5 live after his winning goal: "We've made history, and it shows we have a great squad here. The manager made changes for this game, but whoever comes in and has done well and continues that high level. We showed great spirit to get back in the game and then go on and win it."

Ned: Feel sorry for Jermaine Grandison tonight. Shrewsbury were brilliant, better than most Championship teams.

Mike: Proud of the Town tonight. We gave Chelsea a game and can't ask for anything more from our players.

Andrew: The 'Special One'? More like the 'Fortunate One' tonight. Shrewsbury Town fought Chelsea hard, and only for the unquestionable quality of Didier Drogba and without the impact of Champions League-class substitutes in Willian and Matic, the result could have been different.

  12. Manager reaction

    MK Dons 1-2 Sheffield United

Sheffield United manager Nigel Clough on BBC Radio 5 live: "It was a thrilling way to win a League Cup tie. We fought back well late on and hopefully this can give us momentum in the league. To get through to this stage as a League One club is a great achievement. It's great for the competition."

  13. Post update

    Bournemouth 2-1 West Brom

    Bournemouth 2-1 West Brom

Another decent stat for you is that Eddie Howe - now Bournemouth's manager - scored the winner when the Cherries last beat West Brom in a cup competition, back in 1999.

  14. Manager reaction

    Bournemouth 2-1 West Brom

West Brom manager Alan Irvine: "I made the players aware of the quality of Bournemouth and how difficult it would be to come here, so there were no surprises. We needed to be better than we were. We conceded two poor goals.

"Whilst we were always in the game, we didn't use the ball as well as we could have used it. We just needed to be better."

"Micky Mellon is a positive guy and now he's got to get back to the bread and butter of League Two and a trip to Dagenham on Saturday. Chelsea needed some of their big players to get through, and Micky can be proud of that. They are a strong team, but tonight they showed they can play and pass the ball as well."

A Karim: Could this be the turning point of Liverpool's season? Let's hope so.

Paul Walmsley: How many times this season will Liverpool score late goals? We don't do easy!

Paul Mackie: If you could pick two players who needed a boost it was Dejan Lovren and Mario Balotelli

  17. Manager reaction

    Bournemouth 2-1 West Brom

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe: "I thought the lads were excellent. The guys that came in, it's never easy but they were superb and I'm delighted for the fans and the club, we are in unchartered territory.

"The last two years have been so successful that we have a good mentality in the dressing room. It showed again because when we conceded we went up the other end to score again quickly.

"They are a good side and you feared they may get a chance. The strength of character to score again really pleased me. The players are hard working and they deserve it.

"The goal was unfortunate, we had so many good performance individually, that's what pleased me the most and collectively it was a really good team performance.

"We have not been in this position before so we want to enjoy this experience. It takes some believing really."

  18. Manager reaction

    Shrewsbury 1-2 Chelsea

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho on Sky Sports: "We knew that, we knew before [it was going to be difficult].

"I think I had on my four players that played on Sunday and they were an unbelievable example for others. They were absolutely brilliant. When you have Petr Cech and Jon Mikel Obi not playing regularly, they come here and give great example of professionalism.

"I wasn't expecting anything but a difficult match. The game was going to be difficult. I was ready for extra-time."

    Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho

Liverpool 2-1 Swansea City - Dejan Lovren (90+4 mins)

It's moments like this when supporters think their club's name is on the cup. Liverpool score in the fourth minute of injury time when Philippe Coutinho floats a free-kick to the back stick where Dejan Lovren leaps to head home. Two of Liverpool's most derided summer signings have bailed them out.

Dejan Lovren scores the winner for Liverpool
  24. RED CARD

Swansea's Federico Fernandez is shown red for a late challenge on Philippe Coutinho. Late drama at Anfield. Liverpool are awarded a free-kick on the edge of the box which is wasted by Mario Balotelli.

  25. INJURY TIME

  29. Player reaction

    Shrewsbury 1-2 Chelsea

Chelsea goalscorer Didier Drogba on Sky Sports: "I think you saw it was a difficult pitch and difficult weather. They were a fantastic team and opponent - they showed why they deserve to be here tonight. They created a difficult game for us.

"It's difficult for players who haven't played a lot and those who played on Sunday [against Manchester United]. With our experience we won the game. I don't need a armband to push the team [referring to his captaincy on the night]."

    Didier Drogba celebrates for Chelsea
  30. GOAL

Liverpool 1-1 Swansea City - Mario Balotelli (86 mins)

Can you believe it? Well, yes, you can. Substitute Mario Balotelli grabs Liverpool's equaliser. The Italian shows great movement to get a yard on the Swansea defence and guide past Gerhard Tremmel. Extra-time awaits....

  33. FULL-TIME

    MK Dons 1-2 Sheffield United

BBC Sport's Chris Osborne at Stadium MK: "Michael Higdon the hero. A last-gasp, dramatic hero. The former Crewe man collects Jamie Murphy's corner at the back post and rifles in to complete the turnaround. A stunning end to a game that was as flat as a pancake for so long. The Blades are into the quarters for the first time since 2003."

    Shrewsbury manager Micky Mellon
  35. GOAL

MK Dons 1-2 Sheffield United - Michael Higdon (90+3 min)

Has MK Dons' wonderful League Cup adventure come to an abrupt end? Michael Higdon scores his second late goal of the night to rifle home a low shot from an acute angle. Sheffield United love the cup competitions, don't they?

  36. FULL-TIME

    Shrewsbury 1-2 Chelsea

Shrewsbury played their part, but Chelsea are into the last eight.

  37. SUBSTITUTION

    Liverpool 0-1 Swansea City

Here's Mario. Liverpool have lacked threat in the final third and boss Brendan Rodgers decides it is time for the much-maligned Balotelli to be introduced. The Italy striker replaces Rickie Lambert, who is still waiting for his first Reds goal.

Time for Mario to deliver? Only 13 minutes remain.

  38. Post update

    Shrewsbury 1-2 Chelsea

    Phil Brown

BBC 5 live pundit at the Greenhous Meadow

Ben in Cobham: Very disappointing from Liverpool tonight. With Luis Suarez gone this competition is their best chance of silverware and they look to have thrown it away.

Warren in Cheltenham: Liverpool's problem is they have eight midfield players who won't score 10 goals between them all season! They just cannot score goals even given good chances. Steven Gerrard falls into this as well unfortunately. He has had chances this season he would have scored a few years ago. The strikers are working out wide and not getting on the end of anything.

Geoff in Somerset: Of course Liverpool aren't good enough. Nor are any of the 24 players Rodgers has bought bar Daniel Sturridge. Which is an appalling transfer record.

  40. Post update

    Shrewsbury 1-2 Chelsea

BBC Sport's Ged Scott at Greenhaus Meadow: "In their 11th home game of the season, it's still only the fifth goal Shrewsbury have conceded at the Meadow, as Chelsea become the first away team to score twice against Micky Mellon's men."

  41. Post update

    MK Dons 1-1 Sheffield United

BBC Sport's Chris Osborne at Stadium MK: "Time to bunker down for a long night. Michael Higdon puts the 1,500 travelling Blades fans in a better mood. It was almost short lived though, as Dele Alli rattled the post at the other end. After being a slumber party for 70 minutes, this is now a little livelier.

  42. GOAL

MK Dons 1-1 Sheffield United - Michael Higdon (87 mins)

United have saved themselves late in the game at MK Dons. Michael Higdon rises to meet Robert Harris' cross and makes no mistake with his header to bring his side level. Looks like extra-time is on the cards.

  43. GOAL

Bournemouth 2-1 West Brom - Callum Wilson (87 mins)

Unbelievable. Just seconds after West Brom draw level, Bournemouth pour up the other end. Callum Wilson gets in behind down the right and the keeper gets a hand to his powerful shot but it has enough legs on it to cross the line.

    Callum Wilson scores for Bournemouth
  44. GOAL

Bournemouth 1-1 West Brom - Tommy Elphick own goal (85 mins)

West Brom draw level - the keeper hitting it long and Georgios Samaras's angled shot is deflected past his own keeper by Tommy Elphick.

  46. Post update

    Shrewsbury 1-2 Chelsea

Just five minutes to go in Shropshire now. Micky Mellon is geeing up his players on the touchline. Is there one last twist?

  47. SUBSTITUTION

    Liverpool 0-1 Swansea City

Here comes the Liverpool onslaught. Glen Johnson prods goalwards but is denied by Swansea keeper Gerhard Tremmel before Neil Taylor swoops in to lash clear the danger.

Substitute time for the home side - but it's not Mario Balotelli. Adam Lallana sprints on in place of Lazar Markovic.

  48. Post update

    Phil Brown

BBC 5 live pundit at the Greenhous Meadow

"Surely Didier Drogba has done enough to earn himself a break now?!"

  49. Post update

    Shrewsbury 1-2 Chelsea

    Phil Brown

BBC 5 live pundit at the Greenhous Meadow

"A brilliant cross from Willian, it's a vicious ball, and Didier Drogba caused loads of problems in there even though he didn't get the final touch. Absolutely devastating for Shrewsbury."

  50. GOAL

Shrewsbury 1-2 Chelsea - Jermaine Grandison own goal (81 mins)

Maybe Jose will be home on time after all. Willian swings in a delightful cross from the left and, with Didier Drogba breathing down his neck, Jermaine Grandison turns past his own keeper. The Shrews look crestfallen.

Jermaine Grandison puts it into his own goal
  51. Post update

    Shrewsbury 1-1 Chelsea

BBC Sport's Ged Scott at Greenhaus Meadow: "Inspired substitution at the Meadow. The man whose goal knocked out Premier League side Leicester in round two strikes again!

  52. GOAL

Fulham 2-5 Derby - Simon Dawkins (65 mins)

Five goals in 20 minutes for Derby, who have rallied from 2-0 down. This time Simon Dawkins flicks home Jonny Russell's cross at the near post.

  53. Post update

    Shrewsbury 1-1 Chelsea

    Phil Brown

BBC 5 live pundit at the Greenhous Meadow

"Micky Mellon's played his trump card here! Andy Mangan's a predatory striker and he's just stuck it away. What a finish to the game we have got here now!"

  54. GOAL

Fulham 2-4 Derby - Jeff Hendrick (62 mins)

Unbelievable stuff at Craven Cottage. After trailing 2-0, Derby now lead 4-2! It is Jeff Hendrick with an emphatic close-range finish after the home side had failed to clear Craig Forsyth's low cross from the left.

  55. GOAL

Liverpool 0-1 Swansea City - Marvin Emnes (65 mins)

Silence at Anfield. Apart from a pocket of away fans who are going wild. Marvin Emnes brilliantly hooks a volley into the far corner to put Swansea ahead.

    Marvin Emnes celebrates for Swansea
  56. GOAL

Shrewsbury 1-1 Chelsea - Andy Mangan (77 mins)

They've only gone and done it. Shrewsbury draw level with the Premier League leaders courtesy of Andy Mangan who has only been on the field for a matter of seconds. A corner is met powerfully by Jermaine Grandison and, with John Obi Mikel struggling to clear, Mangan stabs home from six yards out.

Jose, ring the wife and tell her you will be late home. This tie could be going to extra-time and penalties.

    Andrew Mangan scores for Shrewsbury
  57. Post update

    Liverpool 0-0 Swansea City

Set pieces have looked Swansea's best chance of nabbing a goal and they threaten again from a corner. French striker Bafetimbi Gomis leaps highest to meet Jonjo Shelvey's set-piece but it is straight at Reds keeper Brad Jones.

Still we wait for the opener in the only goalless League Cup tie of the evening left.

  58. SUBSTITUTION

    Bournemouth 1-0 West Brom

Saido Berahino is on for Sebastian Blanco. West Brom look worried, they're on their way out as it stands.

  59. Post update

    MK Dons 1-0 Sheffield United

BBC Sport's Chris Osborne at Stadium MK: "There's life in this game after a slow first half. Benik Afobe's penalty sees him extend his tally at the top of the League Cup scoring charts to six for the competition. It looked an easy spot-kick to give, with Craig Alcock tripping Dele Alli just inside the area."

Mo in Manchester: What do people not understand? Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert are not good enough. Can you see either one playing against Europe's elite. Yes Balotelli isn't scoring, but that can be partly due to the vast pressure put on him and the fact none of the team are playing well. Yes we need anther striker and the manger's the only one to blame for that. But when Daniel Sturridge is back, Balotelli will find his form.

    Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli
  61. Post update

    Shrewsbury 0-1 Chelsea

BBC Sport's Ged Scott: "Shrewsbury's record capacity Greenhous Meadow crowd - over double this season's home average - has sparked some ironic banter between the two noisy sets of fans, prompted by the Chelsea fans' taunt of "You're here for the first time". Amusing but unprintable response from the Shropshire contingent."

Mitch Mansfield: Shrewsbury more comfortable on the ball than many Premier League teams this season. Doing League Two proud, never mind themselves.

  63. GOAL

Fulham 2-3 Derby - Simon Dawkins (54 mins)

Derby's comeback from 2-0 down is complete in fine style - Simon Dawkins cutting in from the left and curling a sumptuous shot into the top corner. Goal of the night.

  64. GOAL

MK Dons 1-0 Sheffield United - Benik Afobe (67 mins)

The competition's leading scorer is at it again - Benik Afobe dispatching his spot-kick with aplomb after Delle Alli had been brought down by Craig Alcock.

  65. SUBSTITUTION

    Shrewsbury 0-1 Chelsea

Shrewsbury mix things up and send on winger Jordan Clark in place of Bobby Grant. The ex-Barnsley forward has 23 minutes to make an impact.

  66. Post update

    Liverpool 0-0 Swansea City

The Anfield Kop is cranking up the volume as their heroes press for the opener. Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho fires into the midriff of Swans keeper Gerhard Tremmel in the first opening of the second half.

  67. GOAL

Fulham 2-2 Derby - Johnny Russell (47 mins)

An inspired fightback from Derby who have fought back from two goals down. Simon Dawkins gets to the whitewash and pulls the ball back for Johnny Russell to gleefully smash home.

    John Russell equalises for Derby
  68. Post update

    Shrewsbury 0-1 Chelsea

Do you know when you play 5-a-side and there's one player who is just head and shoulders above everyone else? Smashing in shots left, right and centre. That man is Didier Drogba tonight. He blasts another effort at the Shrewsbury goal which is too hot for Jayson Leutwiler to handle but the danger is cleared.

Andy: Rickie Lambert is fluffing his lines tonight, he has a real chance to lay down a marker tonight and stake a claim for a starting place. Mario Balotelli isn't setting the world alight, so Lambert could put himself firmly in the frame with a good performance. He needs a big second half.

  70. KICK-OFF

    Liverpool 0-0 Swansea City

No Mario and no Wilfried. Both teams as you were as Swansea kick off the second half.

  71. PENALTY APPEAL

    Bournemouth 1-0 West Brom

A massive penalty shout for West Brom is waved away and manager Alan Irvine looks perplexed on the touchline. A cut-back from Brown Ideye prompts Bournemouth central defender Tommy Elphick to slip and his momentum is stopped as he falls on the ball with his hand making clear contact.

    It looks unfortunate but clear-cut.

  72. Post update

    Liverpool 0-0 Swansea City

    Kevin Kilbane

BBC Radio 5 live sports extra at Anfield

"Liverpool dominated possession in the first half but a lot of that was played in front of Swansea. That big opportunity for Lazar Markovic, where he sliced wide, was the biggest chance of the game.

"But Swansea came back into it, created a few problems, but they need to see a bit more from Dyer, Montero and Gomis - certainly on the counter attack.

"Bony could be an option for Swansea, but they saw this as an opportunity to give him a rest. As for Balotelli coming on, I'm not too sure. Lambert has had very little impact. I'd like to see Lambert play between centre halves a little bit more."

  73. Post update

    MK Dons 0-0 Sheffield United

Sheffield United should be in front at Stadium MK. Marc McNulty's cross from the right drops perfectly for Stefan Scougall, who is unmarked in the box, but he misjudges his header and puts it over the bar.

"Micky Mellon has head in his hands. He must have thought from his angle it was in. Shrewsbury are not giving this up without a fight. The attitude of the players is fantastic and Micky will be so proud of them."

  75. HITS THE WOODWORK

    Shrewsbury 0-1 Chelsea

Shrewsbury are still battling and they almost level matters - Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro's shot taking a wicked deflection and smashing into the post with Petr Cech wrong-footed.

Harry Pannell: Three goals in three games. Is Drogba really past his best yet?

Mark Hill: Drogba again? Is he really 36?

  77. CLOSE!

    Shrewsbury 0-1 Chelsea

Andre Schurrle almost doubles Chelsea's lead with a rasping shot which goes just over the bar. Incidentally, before the visitors took the lead, a cheeky Shrewsbury steward was caught on camera asking for John Terry's autograph. He got it.

  78. Post update

    Shrewsbury 0-1 Chelsea

BBC Sport's Ged Scott at Greenhous Meadow: "You always got he impression that Chelsea were toying with the Town - and just three minutes into the second half they have their breakthrough as a neat slick exchange involving Salah opens the door for Drogba to run on and fire home left-footed to the right of Jayson Leutwiler. Are the floodgates now going to open?

  79. HALF-TIME

    Liverpool 0-0 Swansea City

It was a long, long night at Anfield last month when Liverpool and Middlesbrough needed 30 penalty kicks to separate them in the third round. And at this rate, with Liverpool misfiring, it could be another late one. Don't let the kids go to bed yet.

    Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers
  80. Post update

    Shrewsbury 0-1 Chelsea

    Phil Brown

BBC 5 live pundit at the Greenhous Meadow

"It just shows you how much it means to Didier Drogba with his celebration. Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho will have told his players to wait for those moments and when they come along take them. And that's exactly what Drogba has done."

  81. GOAL

    Bournemouth 1-0 West Brom - Eunan O'Kane (49 mins)

Powerful dribbling has been a feature of Bournemouth's play this evening and a strong Junior Stanislas run sees the former West Ham man feed Eunan O'Kane who bursts onto the ball to finish low across goal with his second touch.

It is free-flowing stuff ending with a cool finish by the 24-year-old. Could Bournemouth be heading into the last eight for the first time in their history?

Eunan O'Kane celebrates his goal for Bournemouth
  82. GOAL

Shrewsbury 0-1 Chelsea - Didier Drogba (49 mins)

You can't keep a good Drog down for long. Chelsea finally show their class when Andre Schurrle drives down the right and picks out Mo Salah who expertly tees up Didier Drogba to rifle home from the edge of the area.

Didier Drogba celebrates scoring for Chelsea
  83. KICK-OFF

    Shrewsbury 0-0 Chelsea

Has Jose been throwing the tea-cups round at half-time? Time to see if Chelsea have a bit more about them in the second half.

  84. HALF-TIME

    Fulham 2-1 Derby

  85. GOAL

Fulham 2-1 Derby - Chris Martin penalty (45 mins)

Derby are back in this - Tim Hoogland being penalised for handling in the box and Chris Martin slots home the penalty.

  86. HALF-TIME

    Liverpool 0-0 Swansea City

Liverpool keeper Brad Jones has barely broken sweat tonight - or in the past eight months to be fair. But the man who is making his first Reds appearance since February is quickly called into action to stop Jonjo Shelvey's free-kick.

And that's virtually the final kick of the first half. Time for a breather.

  87. GOAL

Fulham 2-0 Derby - Moussa Dembele (45 mins)

Another defensive mistake from Derby proves costly - Omar Mascarell, who is on a season-long loan from Real Madrid, gifting possession to the Cottagers and Moussa Dembele is on hand to slot home.

Moussa Dembele scores his second for Fulham

Paul French: Mario Balotelli would benefit from a strike partner. Fabio Borini would be good. Italian connection and has a high workrate that we lack.

Sanjay Pankhania: This is why Fabio Borini should start games he is excellent. I can see him and Philippe Coutinho having a great understanding.

Paul Walmsley: Liverpool's second string playing better than their first team at the moment.

  89. Post update

    Liverpool 0-0 Swansea City

Swansea's raids forward have been rare but now they do win a free-kick in a promising position. Jonjo Shelvey bends in the set-piece, the Liverpool defence clears but only to Nathan Dyer - but his shot is deflected wide. Better from the Welsh side.

    Sounds a good night, Chris.

  96. HALF-TIME

    Bournemouth 0-0 West Brom

An entertaining first half at the Goldsands Stadium has yet to yield a goal. In truth, the bluster from the home side has not led to any clear openings, with Tokelo Rantie's half chance as good as it got.

Boaz Myhill in the West Brom goal was equal to that and at the other end, the Baggies have only offered Lee Camp catching practice. It is far from defensive fare on offer here, but the attacking intent lacks that cutting edge.

    • Chelsea and Shrewsbury have not met in any competition since January 2003, when the Blues won 4-0 in an FA Cup fourth round tie. John Terry played in that game.
    • The Shrews have not beaten Chelsea since winning 2-0 in the old Division Two on New Year's Day, 1983.
    • Chelsea have won 13 and lost none of their last 15 League Cup games against lower ranked sides; a run that goes back to 1999.

Liverpool v Swansea City (20:00 GMT)

    Wilfried Bony, Swansea

Wilfried Bony is hot stuff at the moment and, if summer transfer rumours were to be believed, he might have been lining up for Liverpool tonight. Instead, Brendan Rodgers went for Mario Balotelli - a decision which former Swansea striker Ian Walsh says was a "big mistake."

"It's a big mistake. Bony is on the upward trend and for me there would only be one choice," said Walsh. "Balotelli has been there, seen it, done it, but is he on the downward path now in terms of enthusiasm for the game?

"Bony has adjusted to this level and still has the desire to score goals."

    Shrewsbury v Chelsea (19:45 GMT)

Shrewsbury captain Liam Lawrence is still not ready to start having suffered a niggle that ruled him out of the game against York last week.

He is on the bench along with striker Andy Mangan, who returned from a knee injury to play in the match against Portsmouth last Saturday.

Chelsea name four players that started against Manchester United at the weekend, with Didier Drogba leading the line.

Kurt Zouma, who turned 20 on Monday, is in the defence alongside debutant Christensen and experienced pair Gary Cahill and Filipe Luis.

Nathan Ake is in midfield alongside John Mikel Obi, with Oscar, Andre Schurrle and Mohamed Salah.

If you see somebody giving Ashley Williams a clip at half-time tonight, chances are he's changed his mind and decided to swap shirts with Mario Balotelli.

Ahead of the game, Williams said: "If you see me swap shirts at half-time give me a slap."

That might be a bit extreme, but I found the skipper's next comments quite interesting: "Everyone's got an opinion on him, [but] I think he's a good player [and he] seems like a nice guy whenever I come up against him."

Do you want your number nine being a "nice guy" to centre-halves?

The story of Lloyd Burton's fight against cancer has had prominent position in the media this week and the young Shrewsbury fan will get a one to one with none other than Jose Mourinho tonight.

Krish in London: Went to watch Barcelona versus Spurs in a friendly (Wembley Cup) once for a friends birthday. We were stuck on the motorway for five hours thinking there was no point but in the end decided to go for it. Turns out we got the timing completely wrong and arrived halfway through Celtic versus Shakhtar Donetsk which was directly before!

Jock: Started Queuing at 4.30am to try get tickets for Wimbledon. Starting the queue you hope that you get centre court. But when the hours dragged on we just had enough and settled for Court Three! The Pimms and seeing Juan Martin Del Potro smash down some aces, made it worthwhile!

    Fulham v Derby (20:00 GMT)

I reckon we need to keep our goals radar trained on Craven Cottage tonight, because the last 17 League Cup games there have averaged 4.5 goals per game. The big question from me is... when are the Cottagers going to give Kit Symons the job? He seems to be doing a decent job from the outside looking in.

    Benik Afobe, MK Dons

Who's the hottest striker in this season's League Cup? Sergio Aguero? Diego Costa? Alexis Sanchez?

Nope, it's Benik Afobe of MK Dons. The on-loan Arsenal striker has five goals in the competition, including a brace against Manchester United in the second round. Jonny Evans is still having nightmares about that evening.

Can Benik do it again tonight? The Gunners will be calling him back soon enough if his scoring streak continues.

    Eddie Howe

The last time Bournemouth reached this round in the League Cup, George Best was a precocious 17-year-old who had just made his Manchester United debut. A long time ago, eh?

However, the Cherries will fancy picking up a notable scalp this evening - just days after putting eight past Birmingham, a result etched into my memory thanks to the office's resident Bournemouth supporter.

Can Eddie Howe's boys take care of the Baggies this evening? A place in the last eight would be their reward.

    Shrewsbury v Chelsea (19:45 GMT)

Yep, Chelsea, who are top of the English football charts, are in town - and the excitement has been brewing for a while.

Literally! When tickets went on sale earlier this month, Shrewsbury supporters queued in the early hours to snaffle their ticket. While they braved the early-morning cold, manager Micky Mellon and his players wheeled out a tea trolley and started dishing out cups of tea. A ticket to the big cup tie and a brew? A winning combination.

  193. Post update

Something big is about to happen at the Greenhous Meadow tonight. Something which was big enough for hundreds of fans to start queuing at 3am two weeks ago in a bid to get a ticket.

Is it a One Direction gig? Nope. What about a big film premiere? Nope.

    One Direction

So what's the reason for all this excitement in the historic market town of Shrewsbury?

The Special One, and his band of merry men, are in town. That's what.
