Tom - you've made Garry Monk a very happy man with that comment...

Chris Parker: Alan Hansen should change what he said from 'You can't win anything with kids' to 'You can't win anything with Wenger'. I'm a very worried Arsenal fan. I fear we are only going to go backwards from here.

Nick, Burnley: Can any Arsenal fans tell me how better defending could have prevented Gylfi Sigurdsson's free-kick? Sometimes you just have to accept the better team on the day won.

Tom, Durham: Garry Monk is a dead ringer for Ryan Gosling in Drive! Give the man a toothpick.

A huge fork of lightning streaks above the empty Liberty Stadium. The thunder will be coming from Arsene Wenger on the way home.

James Peter Baker:, external The Premier League is going to look like the Scottish league in May with Chelsea 20 points clear of second place.

Jason Trillo:, external Lukas Podolski and Joel Campbell are wasted at Arsenal! Should play more but do not. Would not blame them for leaving in January.

Mohamed Gaafar:, external Wenger's fault for not replacing Thomas Vermaelan and letting Carl Jenkinson go on loan to a top four rival! And lack of a defensive midfielder.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, speaking to Sky Sports: "It is difficult to explain how we lost the lead. We were in control but they did not give up and we lost some decisive challenges in the middle of the park and we paid for that. That is where we lost the battle.

"We were not in too much trouble, we had the best chances, it is a place that is always tight and it was a very tactical game.

"I worry that we concede the goals, yes. At the moment we have different worries than that [the gap between Arsenal and Chelsea]. We just lost a game that we feel we should not have lost. You have to win the games you can win and today was one. If you want to challenge for the Premier League you have to be a bit more realistic."

"We threw the game away" says Arsene Wenger. He now has a two-week international break to stew over this defeat.

    Full quotes to come.

More from Swansea boss Garry Monk, speaking about Jefferson Montero: "He is enjoying himself. I try to get all the players working with a smile on their faces and he is working hard and getting his reward. It is not about individuals though it is very much about the team and today the team were excellent."

Lisa: No sympathy for Arsenal. We keep being told they have a huge transfer budget but the manager refuses to address the same old weaknesses in their team. Sticking to your principles is one thing - being blind and refusing to see the problems right in front of your eyes? Inexcusable! Arsene Wenger still trading off the Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira era.

Matt, Sutton: Southampton, West Ham and Swansea all in the top five! Just goes to show how the normal top teams are underperforming.

  9. Postpublished at 18:18 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2014

"Well, uh" - here comes Arsene Wenger. Looking frosty. He believes his midfield failed to win key tackles in midfield.

Again, plenty of pundits said he needed a defensive midfielder and a centre-half this summer...

Stavros:, external The disturbing thing about Arsenal isn't the defeat. The disturbing thing is that Arsenal looked exactly like a mid-table team

Immsy:, external Looking at a basketball score for the Man United v Arsenal game.

Arsenal fans are laying it on thick - but the Gunners have only won four games in the Premier League all season.

Richard in Kent: Absolutely disgraceful performance, I've been an Arsenal fan for 25 years and even with everyone saying Arsene Wenger should go I have stuck up for him. But now it's time he left and realised he is tactically lost in today's game. Won't be watching many more games this season until he does the right thing and goes! Furious!

James, Norfolk: The only positive to take from today is that even though Arsenal may have lost 2-1 away, Spurs lost 2-1 at home. It's the little victories that make life worth living.

  13. Manager reactionpublished at 18:11 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2014

Swansea boss Garry Monk: "It's about belief. We talked about belief before the game, about how good we have been and how good we can be. We showed our character.

"They got the goal, I thought it was an even game, we made the changes and thankfully they went for us today.

"Gylfi Sigurdsson has been disappointed previously that he has not had many opportunities to produce what he did today but what a great goal and that put us in the ascendency.

"We beat Manchester United on the first day, we have just beaten Arsenal but we take each game as it comes. We are doing a lot of work on the training ground and at the moment it is paying off, which is nice to see."

Iqbal, Leicester: As bad as it is for us Liverpool fans this season with the amount of defeats and poor displays showed by our side, it gives a bit of comfort knowing that we're only two points behind Manchester United and three behind Arsenal. Oh, and level with Everton and Tottenham! What's happened to all the 'big' teams bar Chelsea!?

Ross, Kent: Apart from Chelsea finishing first I honestly think every single league position is up for grabs and wouldn't be surprised whoever finishes top four. None of the big teams have looked decent apart from Chelsea.

Ianceetee:, external At this rate Premier League fourth place will be achieved with less than 60 points. Ultra competitive or mediocre standard?

Tom Sawczuk:, external Crisis club Newcastle are now two points clear of Liverpool and Everton, level with Man Utd and only one point behind Arsenal.

Ian Palmer:, external Arsenal's defence! Defence! We've just proved Anderlecht was no freak but a structural problem.

  16. All over bar the shouting?published at 18:09 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2014

Opta sports point out that Chelsea are currently an average of 13 points clear of the other teams who finished in the Premier League top six last season.

Is it as good as over already?

  17. Postpublished at 18:07 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2014

Swansea boss Garry Monk looks understandably delighted with that win. He puts it down to belief and praises his side for going right to the end.

    Full quotes to come.

  18. Text us on 81111published at 18:06 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2014

Rich, Hitchin: No major manager would allow their team to defend like that! Arsene Wenger has absolutely no idea how to sort this out. Manchester United next. Shouldn't be, but am very worried!

Rita, Northampton: Can't people get a grip? The arrogance of some fans - their team only has to turn up and they should win? Arsenal have injury problems and Swansea are a good side. Get over yourselves - it will come right at the end of the season.

  19. Postpublished at 18:05 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2014

The two sides of the debate right there. Arsenal - and Manchester United - are beset by defensive injuries. Is that bad luck? Or bad planning?

Edward DeCesare:, external Arsenal used to throw away matches in the second half of the season, now they're just throwing away matches in the second half.

Andrew Neill:, external If injuries hadn't conspired against him (Laurent Koscielny, Matthieu Debuchy and Olivier Giroud) this might look a very different Arsenal team.

Tahmeed Zaki:, external He can blame it on injuries all he wants, but it's Wenger's fault for not investing in quality defensive cover.
