After that game, Yaya Toure gave a signed shirt to a five-year-old girl who was struck by one of his wayward shots in the draw.

The City midfielder was off target with his effort midway through the first half and the young QPR fan was hit in the face in her seat behind the goal.

Ivory Coast international Toure later gave Chloe a shirt with the word 'sorry' written on it and also tweeted: "Relieved to hear the girl my shot hit is OK. I was very worried."

QPR also tweeted:, external "We've just spoken to the young girl who was hit by Yaya Toure's shot - she's fine and will enjoy these shirts!"

Yesterday's big talking point came from the evening game, QPR versus Manchester City.

Charlie Austin scored what he thought was the opening goal of the game, when he profited from Joe Hart's botched free-kick. However, the City keeper had inadvertently taken two touches of the ball, an error which saw the home side's goal chalked off.

As Hart's first touch of the ball did not leave the City area, the free-kick - given because Austin had just scored another goal ruled offside - rightly had to be taken again under the instruction of referee Mike Dean. Austin went on to score later as the game ended 2-2.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho says his side are "champions of autumn" after maintaining their four-point lead at the top of the Premier League with victory over Liverpool.

"I think we have a very good chance to win the title but I think we, Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United and Southampton are all still in the race," says Mourinho. "All we can say is that we are the champions of autumn."

  4. Liverpool 'in a difficult moment'published at 10:27 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2014

It was another bad day at the office for Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers after his side lost 2-1 to Chelsea at Anfield.

The Reds went in front against the Premier League leaders through Emre Can but goals from Gary Cahill and Diego Costa consigned the Reds to a third successive loss.

"It'll turn for us but it is a difficult moment," says Rodgers. "The players are giving everything but as you would expect when you are not winning the confidence is a bit low."

Not too long ago, watching football for fans in the north east of England will have been a relatively miserable prospect.

Newcastle went through August and September without a league win, while Sunderland were recently smarting from an 8-0 defeat at Southampton.

Both sides, though, head into today's Premier League games on the back of impressive wins.

Newcastle are at West Brom after beating Liverpool last-time out while Sunderland host Everton after claiming a morale-boosting victory at Crystal Palace last Monday. Both can make strides up the table with wins today.
