They're queuing up to shoot at Bolton's net. Matt Mills is caught out and Gary O'Neil fires horribly wide. Bolton will be glad to get into the dressing room trailing by just one goal.

Norwich finishing the half with a flourish. Nathan Redmond cuts inside from the right but pulls his left-footed shot wide of Andy Lonergan's post. Then Jonny Howson lets fly with a first time attempt that flashes just wide. The Canaries don't look like a team on a worrying win-less run.

Bolton need to make their set-pieces count. They fail to test John Ruddy again when they are awarded a free-kick on the edge of the Norwich area after Mark Davies is hacked down by Gary O'Neil. The Canaries player is booked for the foul. This is too comfortable for the hosts.

Worried faces on the Norwich bench as goalscorer Cameron Jerome lands heavily following a challenge with Dorian Dervite. The striker winces in pain as he hobbles off but is greeted by loud cheers as he returns to the pitch.

"Tottenham lost their way badly in the second half of their defeat by Newcastle last week.

"Not only did they let a 1-0 half-time lead slip, they failed to create any further chances and the Magpies did not have to play particularly well to win.

"I look at Spurs and think it is easy to upset them and stop them from playing. But they are up against a Villa side who have lost five in a row and haven't scored in any of those games - and I don't really feel I can pick either of these teams to win a game at the moment."

Ex-Fulham manager Rene Meulensteen: "I feel a little bit for Paul Lambert. They had a great start to the season, but now he finds himself in the sort of situation Alan Pardew was in a few weeks ago."

  8. What happened to battling Villa?published at 20:22 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2014

Times football writer Rory Smith: "Aston Villa are good on the counter, but once they concede they are done. To go to QPR and not land a glove on them is a worry for Villa."

Jay Spearing has his sleeves rolled up and the bit between his teeth. He tries to tee-up Oscar Threlkeld with a long pass into the Norwich penalty area but the ball is too long. Canaries keeper John Ruddy is leading a charmed life.

"Arsenal are not in red-hot form or anything like that - they have limped over the line to get results in recent weeks and were pretty much gifted their win by Sunderland last time out.

"That is a positive thing because you could argue they got their reward for putting teams under pressure - and I do not see them having to work too hard for the three points on Saturday.

"There is actually a lot to like about the Clarets, who are full of energy and well-coached but, as the weeks go by, the gulf in class seems to get bigger."

So close for Norwich. Martin Olsson drills a low cross across the six-yard area but Jonny Howson is unable to connect. Bolton breathe again. The faintest of touches and that would have been 2-0.

"Newcastle are a team in form and, all of a sudden, Magpies boss Alan Pardew apparently knows what he is doing again. Could it actually be the case that Pardew was not so bad in the first place?

"Liverpool have had their own problems, which are not over despite the Reds getting out of jail with that late turnaround to beat Swansea in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday. Everybody seems fascinated by what Mario Balotelli does but that is not helping Liverpool.

"Surely the focus should be on getting the whole team to play better?"

Neil Lennon is slouched in his seat in the dug out. His Bolton side are struggling to contain the high-flying Canaries. Dorian Dervite produces a great block to deny Steven Whittaker's goal-bound strike before the Norwich man tests the keeper from distance.

Meet Mark Lawrenson's opponent in this week's Lawro's predictions.

Rachel Riley is better known for her love of Maths of the Day rather than Match of the Day - she is the numbers expert on the long-running Channel Four show Countdown.

But the Oxford University mathematics graduate actually knows her football as well as her figures and was brought up as a Manchester United fan - starting with a United babygrow and teddy bear when she was born - because her dad is from Salford.

So how does Rachel think United will do in Sunday's derby at Manchester City? Her prediction might just surprise you...

That's seven goals in 11 Championship games for Cameron Jerome since arriving from Stoke in the summer. The 28-year-old showed great composure before finding the net with a low shot. Terrific finish at this level.

Norwich a team feeling the heat? The Canaries are off to a flyer as former Stoke striker Cameron Jerome shows some Premier League class by nodding Martin Olsson's long ball down to Jonny Howson before collecting the return pass and slotting home.

"If Steven said it, we'll take it on board. Speaking from a selfish point of view, I love Steven Gerrard and I'd love him to stay at Liverpool. It's like Ryan Giggs at Manchester United - players come into the club and are instantly lifted by seeing Gerrard. He might not be as good as he used to be - like Giggs - but he's still a class act. The common consensus is that he will go abroad if he did leave Anfield, but if he did become available I think clubs in the Premier League would want him. He's still that good a player."

Bolton-born Oscar Threlkeld is making his first start of the season for the Trotters and the 20-year-old has already made a couple of vital blocks. Norwich are starting to stir. Alexander Tettey lets fly from 25-yards and his effort only narrowly flies wide.
