"Great header from Fellaini, this is why he's in the team.

"He's a presence at the back post. Long, deep hanging ball from the cross.

"Great attacking header from Fellaini and the goalkeeper has no chance."

It never rains but it pours, eh Brendan? Leicester take the lead against Liverpool when Leo Ulloa's shot from a tight angle hits the post but deflects off the back of goalkeeper Simon Mignolet and nestles in the back of the net. Good work in the build-up from Jamie Vardy too, whose initial shot had been deflected into the path of Ulloa about 10 yards out.

Marouane Fellaini has had his critics since joining Manchester United - and that is an understatement - but he remains peerless at some things. Namely, a thumping back-post header. Ander Herrera crosses from the left and Fellaini is head, shoulders and hair above everyone else to thump home. Brilliant header.

Brad Guzan is a lucky man - the Villa keeper getting away with one when he drops Yannick Bolasie's cross, but Dwight Gayle is offside when he follows up to try and bundle over the line. A bright start for Palace, with Wilfried Zaha looking good.

  5. CLOSE!published at 20:05 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2014

What a chance! Another shocker from Simon Mignolet, who passes the ball straight to Esteban Cambiasso. The Argentine is 35 yards out but it's an open goal and he sidefoots it wide!

Two goalkeeping clangers in a few minutes. Cambiasso had started to celebrate before that drifted wide.

Rishaab Kapoor:, external what is Herrera doing in Mata's position? Bet he would have scored!

Michal Kosiol:, external When did Torres substitute Herrera? And since when does he play for Man Utd?

Interesting tactics from Baggies manager Alan Irvine, who seems to have employed Victor Anichebe as a lone frontman with Saido Berahino on the left.

"Terrible mistake by Begovic in the Stoke goal.

"Van Persie nicks in, squares it to Herrera who made a poor, poor effort in his attempt to finish it.

"The ball to him was perfect and to not even hit the target from 15 yards out is very poor."

United should lead! A sitter. Stoke keeper Asmir Begovic passes the ball straight to Robin van Persie, he has two men over, picks out Ander Herrera but the midfielder leans back and slams it over. Van Persie has his head in his hands.

If you ever play Leicester boss Nigel Pearson on Fifa, he'll be the annoying person who pauses the game to change camera angles. He's sitting right at the back of the stand tonight. The very back row.

It means he has a good view as Liverpool go close again, Raheem Sterling nipping onto a cross but poking wide.

  11. KICK-OFFpublished at 20:00 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2014

We have kick-off at Selhurst Park and The Hawthorns. All six games are under way now. Lovely stuff.

Newcastle are being penned in by Burnley, with the Clarets now using the flanks to good effect. Kieran Trippier looks a threat down the right and Ashley Barnes and Danny Ings are linking up well - Barnes dropping off and trying to thread through neat passes for Ings.

The first goal of the night comes in League One and the South Yorkshire derby at Oakwell, where defender Lewin Nyatanga has put Barnsley in front against Doncaster with his first goal since April, 2013.

It is still goalless between Sheffield United and MK Dons.

Steven Gerrard has seen plenty of the ball in the opening stages, in a forward position behind Rickie Lambert. He wastes a promising looking opening though, running into a blind alley when he had Raheem Sterling free to his right.

"Both sides are testing each other out, both have had decent spells of possession, but neither keeper has had a save to make."

Seb Gomez:, external If only Villa could have Laursen back in defence. Legend in my eyes.

Steve Allen:, external As a Gooner we are missing the energy and leadership of Vieira. Not getting Cesc back is a big mistake also

Simon Allchin:, external Would bring back Jaap Stam to bolster the UTD defence. Although Kanchelskis tearing up the right wing was a sight to behold!

  17. GREAT SAVE!published at 19:54 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2014

Rob Green again to the rescue. Kyle Bartley powers in a near-post header but Green is strong as an ox to flick the ball away for another corner. There's goals in this one. Got to be.

  18. GREAT SAVE!published at 19:54 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2014

Rob Elliot bustles in to bowl

We found out tonight that Newcastle goalkeeper Rob Elliot used to be a bustling fast bowler alongside one of our work colleagues. The Magpies are thankful for his goalkeeping prowess tonight as he makes a superb save to deny Danny Ings' spin and shot. Burnley looking dangerous, with David Jones pulling the strings.

  19. CLOSE!published at 19:53 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2014

Chance! Steven Gerrard whips in a delicious free-kick to the near post, Martin Skrtel is only five yards out but his header skims past the front post. Good defending from Ritchie De Laet, who then clatters Raheem Sterling, who limps away.

Leonardo Ulloa frees Jamie Vardy over the top, he skins Kolo Toure but drags his shot wide.

Burnley are trying to prise open the Newcastle defence down the centre and Ashley Barnes almost plays in George Boyd but the striker's pass is poor. A few tough tackles going in from both sides. Added spice.
