Crystal Palace are completely on top at Selhurst Park, where Mile Jedinak goes close. The hosts have now had four corners in the first 20 minutes or so.

"United haven't played well yet, their passing hasn't been crisp.

"I don't think Louis van Gaal would think it's vintage United.

"They've got the goal, but it's been very scrappy and they're ambling to a 1-0 win at this current pace."

  3. CLOSE!published at 20:20 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2014

Almost an embarrassing moment for Rob Green. Not quite World Cup 2010 levels of shame, but close. Gylfi Sigurdsson's 20-yarder is deflected twice and reduced to a harmless looking trickle, but Green misreads it and the ball skips and spins inches past the post.

Pick that out. Burnley take a deserved lead at the Turf when Danny Ings chests the ball down and George Boyd takes his time, takes aim and almost takes out the back of the net with a thunderous shot from 22 yards out. Newcastle keeper Rob Elliot hardly moved for it. Was he unsighted?

  5. Postpublished at 20:18 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2014

How is that not a free-kick? Leicester defender Marcin Wasilewski has Rickie Lambert in a choke hold but referee Lee Mason waves it on.

Much better from the Reds now as Martin Skrtel sees a header blocked.

  6. Postpublished at 20:17 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2014

Seven points from their last nine, and now Burnley are playing some eye-catching stuff - Danny Ings and Scott Arfield both having shots blocked in the area. Finally Newcastle, spring into life at the other end and Mehdi Abeid gets cleans through on goal but fires his effort straight at Tom Heaton.

    John Hartson
    BBC Radio 5 live

    "Great chance for Stoke.

"Really good ball from Erik Pieters. But Stephen Ireland and Bojan got in each other's way and it was Marcos Rojo who dived in in time to clear it away."

  8. Postpublished at 20:16 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2014

Great defending! Marcos Rojo recovers brilliantly to stretch out a foot and clear from in front of Bojan, who looked certain to score at the Stretford End. The boy from Barcelona is finding his feet in the Premier League. Stoke well in the game still.

  9. Postpublished at 20:14 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2014

Before tonight, West Brom had won just five of their previous 30 matches. Three points against the Hammers would be most welcome.

  10. Postpublished at 20:14 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2014

Very quiet at the Liberty. Swansea remain on top but their early threat has dissipated somewhat. Get Wilfried Bony on the ball and wait for something to happen. That seems to be the plan.

Nuren Ahmed:, external who is that big haired Belgian wearing number 31 playing for Man Utd? it's a rejuvenated Fellaini

Matt Congreve:, external This might be too positive but Man Utd are playing in a Barcelona style - attacking and possessive just controlling the game

  12. Postpublished at 20:12 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2014

James Wilson is tearing around a lot up front for Manchester United, but is yet to receive much reward. The 19-year-old has only had five touches in the opening half hour - only one more than his keeper David De Gea, who has been a bystander so far.

  13. Postpublished at 20:12 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2014

Burnley continue to have the better of this contest, and Ashley Barnes should make the keeper work when he blazes over from 18 yards out.

  14. GOALpublished at 20:11 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2014

Yes, Liverpool can respond! Steven Gerrard's free-kick is half cleared, the ball is hit back in, Rickie Lambert wrestles with Wes Morgan for the header and Adam Lallana sweeps home the loose change with a cracking left-footed half volley. Lallana's 50th league goal. And a big one for Brendan Rodgers, who celebrates with a Tim Henman fist-pump.

  16. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 20:10 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2014

An early blow for Aston Villa, who see Joe Cole limp off with a hamstring problem and replaced by midfielder Carlos Sanchez. The Colombian international will be asked to bring the creativity now.

    Craig DawsonImage source, Getty Images

Big Sam's teams don't often get done like this - Graham Dorrans whipping in a free-kick from the left and big centre-half Craig Dawson is left unmarked to power a header home from six yards out.

Can Liverpool respond? Glen Johnson shoots from fully 30 yards with predictable, Row Z results.

Ben Stephenson:, external Simon Mignolet. What are you doing. Get rid!

Richard Howlett:, external Scrap that. Emile Heskey would fill his boots against Mignolet

  20. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 20:08 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2014

Wilfried Zaha is causing Aston Villa's defence plenty of problems on his return to the starting line-up and is left appealing for a penalty after going down in the area under Tom Cleverley's challenge. Play is correctly waved on but the Manchester United loanee means business.
