If you weren't going to bother watching Match of the Day tonight, that goal from Sergio Aguero should change your mind. It has to be seen. There are plenty of words to describe how hard the Argentine struck the shot - but not many I can use before the watershed...

"Everton have had had a couple of decent chances.

"There was a penalty appeal against Lukaku for a handball, but after a slightly slow start, Roberto Martinez's side are starting to warm-up here and Hull are being pushed back."

Better from the Gunners as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain skips past a defender but his low shot is tame.

BBC Sport chief football writer Phil McNulty at the Emirates

"Judging from the start Southampton have made here, their confidence has not been too damaged by that defeat against Manchester City. Busy and confident on the ball - they should also be ahead had Graziano Pelle taken the sort of chance he has been snapping up so far this season."

Chelsea have played well for maybe five minutes tonight but they've already opened up an ominous looking lead.

MOTD's Steve Wilson at Stamford Bridge

"It's noisy enough at Stamford Bridge for Jose Mourinho tonight. Tottenham have it all to do now. As for Hugo Lloris, he's a tremendous goalkeeper but he looks like he cannot believe what he's just done. The danger for Spurs is that they are now going to get blown away."

    "Another poor mistake from Lloris.

"We saw it here last season the way Spurs capitulated under this sort of pressure. It's going to be a long night ahead for them now."

He's still got it! Didier Drogba shows Harry Kane how it's done as he finishes crisply with his first chance of the night. Hugo Lloris scuffs a goal-kick out and he is ruthlessly punished, Eden Hazard and Oscar combine to carve open the Spurs back four and Drogba skips past Jan Vertonghen and thumps home.

"Absolutely stunning from Aguero. An absolute bullet of a strike to equalise.

"A rising, right-footed drive that Pantillimon could do nothing about."

"Lloris shouldn't be beaten at the near post from that effort.

"But, the way the goal was constructed was fantastic.

"Hazard played a wonderful one-two with Drogba and then unleashed the shot for the goal."

"After 19 minutes in which you could argue Tottenham have been the better side, Chelsea take the lead."

There's no stopping those. Sergio Aguero picks up on a loose ball 30 yards out, glides past one defender and then wallops a shot past Costel Pantilimon from 16 yards.

What a minute for Chelsea! They lead as seconds later Manchester City fall behind. Sunderland pick their way through a static defence, and Connor Wickham flicks it over the line under heavy pressure from Pablo Zabaleta. Could be an own goal...

That's lovely. Chelsea turn it on and when they do that, nobody can live with them. Eden Hazard cuts inside from the left, plays a slick one-two with Didier Drogba and cannons a low shot right through Hugo Lloris. The keeper gets a hand to it, but can't keep it out.

    Normal service resumed?

That's more like it from Chelsea. Willian drives in from the left, finds Dider Drogba on the edge of the box, his lay-off is precise and Cesc Fabregas curls a first-timer straight at Hugo Lloris. Not enough power to beat the Frenchman though. Chelsea just starting to keep the ball well after that dynamic start from Spurs.

Not much to report from Goodison Park, though Romelu Lukaku has hit a low shot straight at Allan McGregor in the Hull net. Are the home side missing the spark of Samuel Eto'o?

"Just the one chance so far from City and Sunderland have also had a shot cleared off the line."

Tom from Bristol: Harry Kane looks rampant! If he can perform in the Premiership at the same level as he's done in the Europa League, Chelsea could lose their first game of the season!

Chance! Graziano Pelle works a neat one-two on the edge of the box, Steven Davis nips a header through into his run but Pelle leans back and hammers a shot high and wide. Terrible finish from the Italian and a real opening for the Saints.
