The Chelsea boss says Newcastle, and other Premier League sides, raise their game when playing the Blues, and treat other games like "playing friendlies".

"There are a few stadiums in this country where clearly, when they see the Chelsea shirts, they play the game of their lives," says Mourinho.

Broken Swenglish: Original of poem used in the local press after Yeovil's 8-0 FA Cup fifth round defeat v Manchester United in 1949! 'But no doubt our boys missed their slope'. Sense of humour!

In a match played in front of more than 80,000 at Manchester City 's Maine Road ground (Old Trafford being bomb-damaged), Yeovil were soundly beaten by a United team featuring five-goal hero Jack Rowley. Yeovil, then a non-league club, had beaten Sunderland 2-1 at home to reach the last 16.

"Hull have had a horrendous year in 2014, there is bound to be pressure on Steve Bruce. He will be under pressure from the owner. He demands success and will be demanding it from Steve Bruce.

"I am sure Steve will be getting it in the ear from him on a daily basis. He is the one of the best at getting the most out of his players but his signings are just not showing at the moment."

  10. Under pressurepublished at 11:39 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2014

There are a few top-flight bosses feeling the heat at the moment and West Brom boss Alan Irvine is one of them.

His side lost 2-1 to West Ham on Tuesday and, even though they might have been a bit unlucky, Irvine was never a popular choice when he took over in the summer and some of the Baggies faithful have started to boing boing on his back.

Irvine badly needs a win at Hull today in one of a number of key games taking place this weekend between some of the teams battling relegation. QPR boss Harry Redknapp's side play fellow strugglers Burnley, while Leicester boss Nigel Pearson's team face Aston Villa on Sunday.

  13. Talking of sackingspublished at 11:31 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2014

Hartlepool United have sacked manager Paul Murray and assistant Willie Donachie.

The decision follows last night's 2-1 home defeat to Northern Premier League Blyth Spartans in the FA Cup second round.

Sam Collins has been placed in temporary charge of first team affairs.

  14. Top-flight lack of sackingspublished at 11:27 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2014

    Tony PulisImage source, Getty Images

We've reached the first week of December and a Premier League manager has yet to be sacked.

However, BBC Sport pundit Robbie Savage does not expect that situation to last and one of the main reasons is the availability of Tony Pulis, who impressively kept Crystal Palace up last season.

"Forget unhappy fans, player power or impatient owners - there is one big reason why managers of teams at the bottom of the table are at risk, and his name is Tony Pulis," says Savage.

"It is not his fault, but all the chairmen and owners out there will see what Pulis did at Crystal Palace last season, when he came in and kept the Eagles up, and think 'he saved them, and he can save us'."

"Sunderland's performances have been inconsistent. They put in a really good shift against Chelsea but losing against Manchester City in midweek was more of a reality check. "It is too much pointing fingers at Mignolet when the whole team are struggling, it is not just Mignolet. A lot of the headlines are about him, but Liverpool as a team have not played at their best and sometimes unfairly Simon gets the brunt of the blame."

"I had a good time at Christmas parties. One we had I ended up in A and E. Not me but another player, I can't name him. The lad got in a fight, ridiculously so. QPR boss Harry Redknapp's point (mentioned at 10:44) that it isn't a good idea a group of well-known lads going out stands and it can be a recipe for disaster."
