  1. CLOSE!published at 16:12 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

Out of nothing, Villa almost take the lead. Christian Benteke chases on to Alan Hutton's hopeful pass and instinctively flashes a shot inches wide of the far post.

Matty James fires horribly wide from 20 yards after good hold-up play by Leonardo Ulloa. Not the best of starts - perhaps those stay-away fans have had the right idea.

Christian Benteke follows James's lead with a similarly woeful shot over the bar.

Aston Villa's problems have been scoring goals this season. Just four players have scored a Premier League goal for them (Joe Cole, Garbriel Agbonlahor, Andreas Weimann and Christian Benteke); a lower spread than any other side.

BBC Radio 5 live at Villa Park

"It's one-time winners at home against one-time winners away from home. But at least Aston Villa have some sort of form - after their midweek win they will have a positive mindset. I was at the Leicester v Liverpool game on Tuesday, and Leicester played with a lot of courage, but at times the way Nigel Pearson has them play leaves them open."

Plenty of possession for Aston Villa in the opening stages. Leicester will play with two solid banks of four and hope to catch the hosts on the break.

Low cross from Aly Cissokho on the left just evades Christian Benteke at the far post for the host. A wicked cross.

Hugh McQueen: Third for over thirty glorious hours. For all those saying judge West Ham in May, who cares? Savouring the sight here and now.

Gregory Mandapat: Carl Jenkinson and Alex Song playing well for the Hammers. Arsene Wenger wishing he had those two back with Arsenal?

Daniel Horton: Joe Cole injured, Andreas Weimann suspended and Charles N'Zogbia terribly out of form, yet Jack Grealish still doesn't get a start for Aston Villa!

  9. KICK-OFFpublished at 16:00 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

It doesn't look as though this 'Super Sunday' has got the Villa fans's pulses going with plenty of empty seats around the stadium. A cold Sunday afternoon, Christmas just around the corner and not the best of seasons - you can see their thinking.

The teams are coming out at Villa Park. Can Aston Villa make it back-to-back Premier League wins or can Leicester move off the bottom of the table?

More from West Ham boss Sam Allardyce, speaking to BBC Sport: "It is massive for Andy Carroll. Movement in the box is what it is all about, the heading in the box only comes after the movement is right and that happened with his two goals. He is unstoppable when he gets that space. Hopefully he continues to learn that way. We don't need Andy to score goals with our heads, we are very dangerous on set pieces and with players in wide areas. We cause defenders huge problems.

"It goes to the next game and to try and win it and until we get to the end of January and move out of the congested fixture list and stay with a strong squad that is fit - somewhere along the line they will all have to play their part - as they have in this wonderful run and to go with one defeat in nine shows what a good squad we have."

  13. Manager reactionpublished at 15:48 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce, speaking to BBC Sport: "The disappointing thing was the first attack Swansea had they scored but we fought back. If you did not feel like you could jump out of bed and get down here to play football there would be something wrong but the way we expressed ourselves and the quality of the goals was very much what we deserved.

"Even though there was controversy with the sending off the result always deserved to be ours.

"For us another three goals in the bag and a big eight days - nine points - I don't think anyone in the Premier League has done that this week. We are really flying, we have a lot of players fit. The way Alex Song controls that midfield for us is brilliant. He gets the right service to the front men. We will enjoy ourselves for a day or too and get ourselves ready for the next game."

On Leicester boss Nigel Pearson's argument with a fan:

"I have seen it time and time again. I remember when I went to Sunderland, Peter Reid used to get it and it is hard not to react. I have seen other managers react.

"You have to understand where the club have come from and what the owners have given and what Nigel Pearson has achieved. It was always going to be a struggle for Leicester, they have done so well in getting there, what are they expecting from their manager? The most important thing is to stay up and they are still within touch."

Sunday Times reporter Jonathan Northcroft on Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson saying he will not say sorry over a row with a fan:

"It is an old fashioned row born of the modern age. Players and managers are humans but someone has filmed it and it becomes a bigger story. Nigel Pearson makes it a bigger story by doing what he did. I don't for the life of me understand why he didn't get the apology out of the way. Why not say sorry? It just increases the story."

  17. FA Cup latestpublished at 15:42 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

Closing stages of the 14:00 kick offs in the FA Cup second round. There's a few nervy league managers whose sides are currently being held by non-league opposition.

Find out who might cause an upset here.

  18. Manager reactionpublished at 15:39 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

Swansea boss Garry Monk, speaking to Sky Sports: "We were not at the level we have been. We very much competed, it was close but we were not at the level we were and some of the mistakes have cost us. Funnily enough when we went down to 10 men we played or better football.

"When we play one touch football we can hurt teams and we showed that with our goal but we did not do that enough. Andy Carroll's first goal was from a very good cross but we lost him for the second goal, which you cannot do against any team, that is the sort of chance he waits for. The third goal was very poor defending from us.

"He handballs it to get apt Lukasz. Whether the referee saw the handball or not you would have to ask the referee. Lukasz tried to stop himself but the handball took Sakho past the keeper. We will sit down and have a think, if it was the cold hard facts we would [appeal] but we will have to think about it."
