"It is a deserved win for Newcastle, despite Everton's late goal and the chances coming at both ends. Over the 90 minutes I do not think there was enough urgency or quality from Everton so well done to Newcastle.

"Everton will be nervously looking over their shoulder. There is just five points between them and the bottom three, I am not saying they are going to get relegated but they could do with a win as soon as possible."

Ayoze Perez! No! It's off the post and Everton are still alive in the game... A minute left.

Emmanuel Riviere chases a ball into the corner and goes for a decisive goal rather than a crucial few seconds on the clock.

His cross just fails to find Remy Cabella though.

    Might he regret that?

Alex Barton: I reckon Martinez will win us the Europa League but get us relegated. We are awful.

Aashish: Martinez looks baffled on the touchline and his team are clueless on it - not a good combination.

Craig JJ Hilton: Need a centre back neither Alcaraz or Distin are good enough for the Premiership let alone Everton + Stones injured often.

It was very nearly in the Kevin Mirallas zone!

The Belgian's right foot gets the nod over Leighton Baines' left and he is only a whisker away from the top corner with Jak Alnwick nowhere.

    Three minutes left.

Newcastle are suddenly looking rattled. Jack Colback gives away a free-kick in a dangerous position with a needless foul on Ross Barkley.

Is this in the Leighton Baines zone?

"That came out of nothing. It was one simple through ball and Mirallas has made a great run. Now is there a chance for Everton to build up a head of steam? There's not long but can they get something out of the game?

Leicester manager Nigel Pearson: "I should be smiling a lot broader shouldn't I? It's a relief, that's the over-riding feeling. But we need to back it up.

"We know we've dropped an awful lot of points. A lot of our performances have deserved more than what we had today.

"Steve Bruce will feel his side should have won the game and we have had that feeling a number of times this season.

"But we can't relax now. We produced a grit and determination to keep the ball out of the net and we rode our luck."

Is there life in this yet?

Leighton Baines gets his head up, spots the run of Kevin Mirallas and plays a perfect defence-splitter of a pass.

The Belgian spins into the space behind the Newcastle back four and clips a finish past Jak Alnwick to give the visitors hope.

Hull manager Steve Bruce: "We really passed the ball well at Sunderland but today we did not pass the ball well enough.

"We threw everything at Leicester and missed chance after chance. We missed more chances today then we probably had in the last four or five games.

"Our home form is a real disappointment and we can't put our finger on it. We need to take our chances. It's a really disappointing result for us, there's no hiding from that. It kind of sums up the season."

Newcastle goalkeeper Jak Alnwick is scrabbling in his attempt to claim Luke Garbutt's delivery, but there is no Everton challenge to punish his misjudgement.

Mike in Liverpool: Why persist with Eto'o on the wing? Why take off Kone? Why the refusal to play Pienaar and Osman this season? Roberto is running out of time.

Rob, Villa fan: I suppose all teams have some shooting practice in training, except for mine apparently. As Charlie Brown says, "I can't stand it. I just can't stand it".

    Sean DycheImage source, AFP

Burnley manager Sean Dyche: "It was a fantastic result but beyond that is the performance. The performance was very good against Tottenham and Liverpool and we took that into the game.

"At half-time I thought we were performing well. We believe in what we are doing. The key was getting that first goal so early. I don't know that City were casual. I believe in the physicality of my players. I am more interested in my performance. They came a long way in that game to get that point.

"It might be Manchester City and we might have been 2-0 down but it is only a point."
