  1. What now for Messi?published at 19:09 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2014

The highlights of my achievements over the last week or so consisted of buying a couple of Christmas presents, successfully avoiding venturing outside on Black Friday and cooking a spaghetti bolognaise.

Compare that to the week Lionel Messi had - becoming La Liga's record goalscorer when he bagged a hat-trick in a 5-1 win against Sevilla, before adding the Champions League all-time top scorer record a few days later with another hat-trick against Apoel.

Consequently, with no records to be broken, Messi might be feeling a little empty going into today's game against Valencia, although he can put all his focus on helping Barcelona win the major silverware that eluded them last season.

Right then, no time to catch our breath really as we switch attention to tonight's other key games - Valencia v Barcelona (20:00 GMT) and Roma v Inter (19:45 GMT). If we get half the drama of the Turin derby in those games, then we have a very good night in store indeed.

Tense times now for Juventus as Torino push for a historic winner. Marco Benassi twice has shots blocked as the away side press, before Alessandro Gazzi heads just over from Bruno Peres's corner.

Hard to believe I'm typing this, but Juventus would surely be happy with a point now.

Fantastic football from Carlos Tevez as he dances his way across the edge of the area, skipping several challenges. The ball is eventually played to Arturo Vidal, who stabs in from close range, but he is deemed offside.
