And there is the full-time whistle. It is a first defeat for David Moyes as Real Sociedad boss and a humbling one at that. His side had not conceded in three before tonight but they were picked apart way too easily once Villarreal got their act together in the final quarter. You are not a world beater after one win, nor are you a joke after one defeat, but Moyes now knows he has some work ahead of him.

Pina almost gets in on the action but his shot from the edge of the box is blocked by a diving Sociedad defender. Real Sociedad are just praying for the whistle now to put them out of their misery.

  4. Postpublished at 19:47 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

It should be five. Enaut Zubikarai produces a superb save to tip over Trigueros' shot from eight yards out. Sociedad are completely shot here. This is a big wake up call for Moyes.

  5. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 19:44 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

A thoroughly deflated Sociedad make a final change as Sergio Canales departs and is replaced by Pablo Hervias.

  6. GOALpublished at 19:41 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

Things go from bad to worse for David Moyes. This is getting embarrassing for Real Sociedad now. Mui Gomez has his second goal and he can thank away keeper Enaut Zubikarai, who allows his low shot from the edge of the box to find its way under his body and in. The keeper is not the only one to blame, though. Gomez was given an age to fire in his shot.

  7. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 19:40 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

The home side's final change sees Bruno come off to a standing ovation. He has been very good to be fair. On comes Pina for the final six minutes.

  8. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 19:38 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

The supplier of that last goal Denis Cheryshev departs and on comes Gerard Moreno. It is job done for the home side.

  9. GOALpublished at 19:35 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

This is turning into a drubbing for Moyes' side now. Mui Gomez has only just come on but he immediately makes his presence felt by playing a ball out wide to Denis Cheryshev before charging into the box to fire home the low cross. Back to the drawing board for Dave - his side have been picked apart ruthlessly tonight.

OptaJose:, external 8 - Denis Cheryshev has been involved in more goals than any other Villarreal player in La Liga this season (2 goals, 6 assists). Gunboat.

  11. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 19:33 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

Moyes makes a change of his own with an injured Zurutuza being replaced by Alfred Finnbogason.

  12. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 19:31 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

Off goes Uche for Villarreal and on comes Moi Gomez. There are 15 minutes left for Moyes and his men to salvage an unlikely point.

  13. GOALpublished at 19:28 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

And that should be that. Villarreal double their lead with a neat move that shifts the ball from a throw-in on the right to the left of the box via Luciano Vietto and Uche before Denis Cheryshev drives a low shot across the keeper and in to the bottom corner of the goal. David Moyes is staring his first La Liga defeat squarely in the face.

  14. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 19:28 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

Luciano Vietto is justified in thinking the gods are against him tonight. He strikes a shot from range which beats the Sociedad keeper and hammers against the base of the post before deflecting away from danger.

  15. Postpublished at 19:25 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

Real Sociedad need to get a grip here. Uche drives forward into acres of space and is allowed to fire a low shot that flies just past the post.

  16. Postpublished at 19:23 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

Villarreal go close to making it 2-0 as Jonthan dos Santos finds space on the right to swing over a cross for Denis Cheryshev. Unfortunately for the home side, Cheryshev is unable to steer his volley on target. That would probably have buried Moyes' side.

  17. GOALpublished at 19:18 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

That is what they can do with it! Bruno steps up and clips his shot over the wall and against the bar before the ball strikes the back of away keeper Enaut Zubikarai and into the net. I've put the goal down to Bruno but there is every chance that could go down as an own goal. Either way, Sociedad have conceded their first goal under David Moyes and they now have some work to do.

  18. Postpublished at 19:18 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

Here is a chance. Villarreal have a free-kick right on the edge of the box. What can they do with this?

  19. Postpublished at 19:17 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

Villarreal continue to press forward. Bruno tries a through-ball to Luciano Vietto in the box and it is just a tiny bit of weight away from perfection. Instead of reaching the striker it skips ahead of him and out of play.

Rian Hoskins:, external Sociedad have squad that is capable of a top six finish. What Moyes will do is make sure no-one has an easy game against them

Tom Crossman:, external As a United fan, Moyes has my full support. It may not have worked out at United, but he will always have my full support.

Tom Foolery:, external David Moyes should be angry at United, he was never trusted. Hope he does well

Some heart-warming support for Moyes. Tiny Tim would be proud of you. God bless us, everyone
