"I doubt we'll see a repeat of last season's 6-3 result. Sergio Aguero was on fantastic form, and Arsenal were all over the place. But Arsene Wenger's side still need to change their mentality. When they play against the big sides, they have to play more defensively, have in their head that a draw is not a bad result. Arsenal have this belief that they can go and play their own game and everything will take care of itself, like they're Barcelona. But they are not the same team as they were eight or nine years ago - teams are better than them."

It's threatening to snow up here in Salford but there are no such worries in the East End. A clear, if cold, day at Upton Park. Will it be raining goals? We hope so.

A quick reminder though - as if you needed it - of the big game coming up later on...

Vagner Love is my favourite left-field suggestion in a while!

Imagine asking your chairman for £10m to spend on a 30-year-old Brazilian journeyman who's only ever scored goals in Russia or China though...

You have £10m to spend this month. Who would you sign to keep Hull - or one of their rivals at the bottom - in the Premier League?

Weev: Vagner Love currently plying his trade in China could definitely do a job for Hull as well as being in the £10m range.

Matthew Bennett: BBC Sport stop trying to sell our striker! (see 12:53) Best bit of Watford transfer business? Keeping Troy Deeney!

Rory Canham: I'd take a risk and buy Britt Assombalonga considering Forest's form before yesterday's game. Real quality.

Ryan Hunter: Hull should look into signing Derby's Chris Martin, if not for his goalscoring then for his physical presence. Could be great.

A boost to Hull's scoring chances today is the fact that Sam Allardyce's side have kept just one clean sheet in their last eight Premier League matches - though they have also only failed to score once during this run.

It's going to be 4-4! You just watch.

  6. Crunch time coming for Villapublished at 13:01 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2015

"Aston Villa have scored only 11 goals, the lowest in the top eight divisions, which is a scary statistic. Villa seem to have a lot of players who are good on the ball and can play a pass over short distance, and have pace. I call them five-a-side players, and that is OK in training, but as soon as you get on a big pitch, you need to be playing a forty-yard pass or making forward movement.

"If you do not have that in a team, you are going to be easy to defend against. If you have a player who can run beyond the defence, it opens space for others. Fabian Delph coming back from suspension will be a big boost, but Villa's next two games are going to be really important."

"To give Aston Villa fans some hope. Carles Gil came on and Villa Park lifted as he created, he got on the ball. That was a little bit of positivity. Still, it's now 11 hours or so without a goal and they have Chelsea and Manchester City to play next in the Premier League you can understand the fans worrying."

  9. The fundamentals of QPR's failurepublished at 12:55 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2015

    Former England winger Trevor Sinclair

"When I was at QPR it was a family club with a fantastic tradition of developing lower league players and I'm not seeing that anymore. They are bringing in players who have done OK in the Premier League who are now doing worse, and not looking fit. Something is going wrong.

"There is definitely something fundamentally wrong at QPR. The players do not look fit or committed enough, and the fans must be so frustrated with how the club is evolving. Harry Redknapp has got a great CV but it has not quite happened at QPR and he has been there long enough now to have turned it round. It's not quite happening for me."

A point for Hull this afternoon will lift them out of the mire. But what about one of their rivals down there, QPR?

It turns out that we here at BBC Football don't have too many answers to our own question. Not many obvious candidates for the £10m saviour. I'm sure you've got loads though...

"Earlier in the campaign there didn't look too much between West Ham and Hull but injuries are really costing Steve Bruce and his Hull side at the moment. No Abel Hernandez, no Nikica Jelavic, no Mohamed Diame.

"With their three top scorers out they are going to struggle. I'm worried because they had most of the points that kept them up last season in the bag by this stage.

"Steve Bruce needs to pull a rabbit out of the hat in the transfer window. If they don't get someone in before the end of the January it's going to be tough."

  13. Good stories at West Hampublished at 12:50 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2015

    Former England winger Trevor Sinclair
    MOTD2 Extra

"If you look at the Hull centre-back James Chester, he is only five foot 11 and Andy Carroll is confident, fit and scoring goals for West Ham. I can't see Chester being able to deal with that, and with Kevin Nolan looking for the second ball, I think it could be a difficult afternoon for Hull. Carl Jenkinson and Aaron Cresswell have done so well at West Ham this season, but all over the pitch you see stories like that at the club.

"What has happened with Hull shows there is no guarantee signings will gel. Scouts might have a good view on a player, but you might then realise too late he is not quite as good as you thought he was. Steve Bruce does not have that kind of time, and the tempo in the Premier League is so high that sometimes a foreign player coming in is a gamble."

City snapped up Bony, Sanogo has gone - but it's been a relatively quiet first few weeks of the transfer window. The next fortnight should see the usual mad rush of loans, shrewd signings and last-minute panic buys.

But who does your club need? Who can keep you up? Which lower-league hitman is the answer to Hull's woes? Or will it be a punt on a loan from La Liga?

Hull's worries in front of goal could see them dive into the transfer market, but manager Steve Bruce missed out on target #1 this week as Jermain Defoe rocked up at Sunderland.

If Bruce wants a proven goalscorer for not much money in the January sales, he'll have to join a long queue. Who doesn't?

This time last year Big Sam looked set to lose his job - but the Hammers stuck with him and he turned it round. Steve Bruce may be under the cosh at Hull but he will be relieved to know that just 7% of you suggested that he is the most under-pressure manager in the top flight in our vote this morning.

The man under the most pressure - according to you - is Villa boss Paul Lambert.

Which player in your team has come off their sick bed to score a last-minute winner? Or walked five miles when their car was snowed in?

Upton Park Rangers: One of our players moved to Swansea, he now travels three hours just to play in Windsor. #internationalplayer.

Oscar Harman: Travelled two hours to play in the cup. Lost 15-0, had manager and right back sent off, but still shook the ref's hand.

James Sproston: Teddy Lee turning up every week despite his hopeless performances, and being rewarded by scoring direct from a cross.

One side who don't have any problem finding the old onion bag are Real Madrid. They were frustrated for an hour of their very early kick-off at Getafe but are now 3-0 up thanks to a diving header from Cristiano Ronaldo. His second of the day.

Look away now Hull fans - those goalscoring problems don't look like easing today as Sone Aluko starts as a lone forward option. The good news is that Tom Huddlestone and Michael Dawson are back.

West Ham make just one change from the exciting FA Cup replay win over Everton - Kevin Nolan is in for Matty Jarvis.

West Ham: Adrian, Jenkinson, Collins, Tomkins, Cresswell, Song, Noble, Nolan, Downing, Carroll, Valencia

Hull: McGregor, Bruce, Chester, Davies, Dawson, Meyler, Huddlestone, Livermore, Elmohamady, Quinn, Aluko

    Good afternoon!

It may be chilly out there today but cast your minds back to August and reflect on what a summer transfer window it was for Hull fans.

In came Gaston Ramirez, Hatem Ben Arfa, Robert Snodgrass, Abel Hernandez, Tom Ince and Mo Diame. A new dawn of lively, attacking football looked like arriving at the KC Stadium.

Only, it has failed to turn up. Hull have been beset by injury problems and have scored just 20 times in 21 Premier League games. Worse, they've failed to score in 10 of their last 14 games in league and cup.

They are in the relegation zone ahead of today's trip to West Ham, and guess what? Hernandez and fellow striker Nikica Jelavic are injured.

They may not be quite as goalshy as Aston Villa - but they aren't far off...
